Not at all, that Nets team is a 5th seed at best in the east behind Miami, Boston, Orlando, Chicago. If Melo stays in Denver and the Nuggets get its act together, they'd be the 2nd best team in the west behind the Lakers.

Basically...season imploded last year and they ended up as 4th(one game meltdown against PHX away from 3rd)

plus the cap space they'll have after next season...but he would be the on to leave and actually go to a worse situation *shrug*

If the trade goes down or not, I think we'll in better shape this season.

However, I don't like Outlaw as a starting PF.

at Mo Williams.

NY Times reporting that the Nuggets are telling the Knicks they don't have the assets to acquire Melo via trade.

Houston supposedly offering Kevin Martin + NYK draft picks.

I think the Nets deal is better then that, young talent, and an expiring contract along with picks.
I hate that we are giving them all three of our power forwards though, hopefully we swing a trade or there is still a quality PF out there. Outlaw as our starting 4 is

I think the Nets will worry about that after a trade with Denver if that occurs. Houston is using all the stuff they got in the trade involving the Knicks to go at Melo.

It could also turn into a buy out situation as well.

If the Nets trade two Number 1s with that grouping, Murphy may only be seen to make salaries match.

Nuggets buy him out, he resigns with Nets.

There is no scenario without involving Harris or Murphy that you will be able to get melo.

Harris or Murphy is the foundation due to contracts. Denver has no need for Devin unless they see him as a chip for another trade or as a SG.

It sucks that all of the talent is the PF and Joe Smith is not a starter anymore let alone a role player on most teams. But Melo is worth the risk.

Its all smoke right now.

Lets see what happens.

Just start this damn season already. lol.

I think the Thunder would have a hard time matching up with the Nuggets.

And Carmelo can be just as crazy of a scorer as KD is if he's on.

I like the supporting cast Denver has outside the two superstars, but that's just me.

Russ is good, but he's also very streaky.

On paper yes, but we have all seen DEN inexplicably implode.

Their temperament overall is way too inconsistent.

Billups supposedly was supposed to quell that and "calm the team down with his leadership", but I fear that team has too many hot heads.

I could see a scenario where DEN punks the hell out of OKC on the boards but I could also see OKC transitioning DEN to death. I would love to see them match up in the playoffs

Do yourself a favor, get on that JP, thank me later.  (even if I'm not the one that told you to check into it.)

I think those thinkin Denver could be better then OKC are thinkin in the past still.  Maybe, MAYBE they could be better this season (and I don't even think that's true) but if it was, it would be very very close.  I think OKC takes a nice leap this year, they are NO WHERE close to as fragile as the Nuggs are, mentally AND physically.  Nuggets are injury concerns all over, and the ones that are always healthy are meat heads.  (Hi JR)  Melo is a great scorer, but I still think Durant is better because I think Durant has just a shade more range then Melo.  (consistently at least)  Melo I think has a tad better post game, but no reason Durant won't start to improve that this season.  And if Westbrook grows his game even a smidge, forget it with Billups tryna match him out there.  I've always spoken well on the talent of Denver, but never their heart or brains.  I have nothing bad to say about OKC yet.  They work hard, enjoy playing together, and run like damn deer out there.  Until I find a scratch in their armor, I rate them above the Nuggets ceiling from here on.

Regs......Yahoo fantasy is up again.  Someone starting something anytime soon?  I know football is the primary right now, but always time for more.

OKC deficiency is interior.

Not that that's going to hold them from competing with anyone out West not named LA, I think that's a glaring hole.

Also it wouldn't hurt to get another shooter so teams can't collapse on KD.

Last year was prime example of nobody being able to stretch the defense in the first round.

Harden/Cook/Peterson are simply not going to cut it as far as helping KD stretch out the defense in the half court.

Cant wait for fantasy basketball

we need just one main league, kinda stupid last year with 3-4 different leagues.

As homerish as it may sound, I still think the Nuggets, with their current roster, are better than the Thunder at this moment. Billups, despite his performance this summer, still has a leg up on Westbrook in the PG department. Their games are complete opposites, and Westbrook still has a lot of growing to do before he's the type of guy who will lead a championship contending team. The Carmelo/Durant comparison is a tough one to do; both are great scorers, but do it in different ways. Durant definitely has a better stroke than Melo, and although they're both streaky from outside, Durant gets it going more than Melo. Melo's post-game blows Durant's out of the water; it's not even close. You could say the match-up is a wash or either is slightly better than the other. As long as you don't say one is far better than the other, no argument from me. Durant will be far better than Melo in a couple of years. I'll give Green the advantage over Martin, because who knows what K-Mart is going to be like after another surgery. Green is without question superior offensively, but Martin's defense, at least until his injury last mid-season, was great. Nenê is far better than Krstic; not to say that Krstic isn't serviceable or skilled. Afflalo and Thabo are pretty much the same player; M.O. is to play tough defense, and stand behind the arc waiting for the ball to come to you when your man leaves.

As far as depth goes, I think Denver has them in that department. Lawson, Smith, Harrington & Andersen is tougher than Maynor, Harden, Collison & Ibaka.

From the time of the Iverson trade in fall of '08, to March 2010, the Nuggets were the second best team in the West. I don't think you can argue that.

Depending on what happens with their roster, this year should be the Nuggets' last year around the top of the West with a 50+ win season. Are they title contenders? No. Better than the Thunder? Yes. The Lakers will finish atop & come out of the West again.

See, there's our difference right there, I think Westbrook destroys Billups this coming season.  Bad.  I could be wrong, but I see Billups checking out big time if he sees Melo calling his agent every 15 minutes for the latest updates.  And I expect Westbrook to just make a leap.  Will be interesting.

I think you're pretty accurate with the rest, but as I said, the Thunder have zero injury issues waiting to happen  (minus freak ones of course)  Denver has like 5 guys that could any second go down for a long stretch.  (Nene, Billups, Martin, Anderson, Harrington)  Age/wear and tear/just prior history could see each of those 5 break down further this season.  The Thunder are a bunch of kids.  Unless you fall and break their leg, they shouldn't miss too many games or long stretches.

Billups cannot guard Westbrook. I absolutely agree on that. Chauncey's age is starting to show in that he has trouble staying with opposing teams who have quick, aggressive PGs. (Similar to Fisher's problem) But opposing guards have just as much trouble containing him, with how smart he plays the game and how well he shoots the ball... most of the time. He has those games every so often where he takes so many dumb*#& shots & makes bad decisions.

Their are a ton of variables with the current Nuggets squad and their health. I think sometimes fans forget how old they actually are as individuals, and just think they're injury prone. The one player I will stand up for is Nenê. He has been pretty much healthy since he returned from his bout with cancer in early '08. I know he was injured in game 5 against the Jazz last year and had to miss game 6, but that was the first game he missed all season, and was going to be back for game 7, had there been one.

Melo has missed quite a fair amount of time over his career, too, and seems to sit out for quite a lot of time with minor injuries.

Perhaps their biggest health concern is Chauncey. You could see last year after having an amazing February, he was absolutely worn down. He was pretty bad from March on. Lawson getting injured didn't help, and AD seemed very reluctant to give him minutes. He's going to have to play a much bigger role on this year's squad if they're going to want to keep Chauncey effective throughout the entire year.

When was the last time a bunch of kids went out and made some noise though?

And I highly disagree with Billups, but, that's just me, and I'm a huge Chauncey fan. Still the combination of Billups/Lawson/JR is slightly better than the Thunder back-court.

How has someone not seen Casino? I'm sure the same guy hasn't seen Goodfellas.

Glad you got hooked into Dexter CP, them Oregonians doing something right!
