Well to be fair to Gay, he's gotten a lot better as well. I think they're different players though, IMO.

Brook Lopez pulls out of worlds
NEW YORK -- New Jersey Nets center Brook Lopez, struggling to recover from a bout with mono, has withdrawn from the U.S. national team and will be replaced by Washington's JaVale McGee.
Lopez informed USA Basketball officials Wednesday that he didn't believe he was in good enough condition to take part in training camp next week in New York.
He played poorly during practices in Las Vegas last month and USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said he would have to perform well next week to have a chance to make the roster headed to Turkey for the world championships.
McGee practiced in Las Vegas but hadn't officially been added to the roster.

Honestly, if Brook wasn't 100% he shouldn't be going to Turkey anyways.
at our glaring weakness with our bigs, this is bad.... real bad.

They should start looking elsewhere for big guys.
Nick Collison would be a nice addition and why not take a look at NBA bench players and d-leaguers like Dwayne Jones?
They can both defend the post and rebound very very well.
Having another big guy who can ably man the pivot as an insurance would be good for the national team.

Durant will be on the olympic team no doubt barring injury. Besides Melo who can play the 4, and LBJ who is also interchangeable, what other SF would be a better choice than Durant, whom can also play multiple positions. Kid was top 3 in MVP voting and will win multiple scoring titles for years to come, and he's already built a great relationship with Coach K and labeled as the "face" of this years Team USA by the coaches. He's a lock for 2012.

I am def considering it also...I'm flying into NY Aug 13 for a 2week vacation and i think that would be one hell of a way to kick off my tripOriginally Posted by RoOk
