Official Umar Johnson Thread

Yes and teachers get paid to educate and prepare students for the next level yet I knew dudes in HIGH SCOOL who could barely read.

Honestly this was the ONLY reason I ever mentioned HIgh School.

But in general, the things you are bringing up are highly idealistic but aren't realistic considering the current model.

You can take my responses as, "Passing the buck" or "Making excuses." No hard feelings.

If we can find the time and resources to implement an entirely new trade based curriculum we should be able to improve the existing curriculum and methods for BASIC reading and math skills at the very least. You brining up time constraints and all these other factors that go into teaching but somehow introducing an entirely new curriculum is going to be any easier.

At the end of the day, whats going to stop the exact same thing from happening in the trade based curriculum? Its not solving the shortcomings of public education and it certainly isnt going the close the wealth gaps. You're being short sighted in concentrating on current high school students and their abilities as it stands now.

I am simply asking for ELECTIVES (individual classes) to be offered the way they were up unto the early 2000s.

I don't think we should be removing OPTIONS for kids to excel, in fact it should be the opposite. Give them more avenues to be successful.

I am not asking for a mandatory trade based curriculum, I am asking for kids to have the the OPTION of taking courses gaining real world skills.

I also never once said it is going to solve the short comings of public education NOR did I say it was going to close the wealth gap. (You seem to be stuck on this)

I simply want kids that didn't do well in school to have a chance of making money after they get out. Nothing further.

As I mentioned, diverting time and resources to electives, developing entirely new curriculums and pathways in public schools WILL have the effect removing options for other avenues whether thats intended or not. Thats the problem with that train of thought for me.

You may not expect trade learning to close wealth gaps or address the shortcomings of public educators but the point Im making is it will make it worse, and its already a bad situation. You want to introduce new patways when the current pathways are broken.

What your advocating is a pathway to mediocrity and status quo, Im saying lets direct that energy into excellence regardless of how idealistic or difficult it may seem to you.

I simply want inner city kids to have the same resources and support to do well in school as everyone else. You are conveniently ignoring the fact that all the hurdles and so called idealism arent affecting white students the same way. Fix whats broken before adding more bells and whistles.

Cool.

They told black people their ancestors would be ashamed of them for not voting for this

Imagine being a week removed from a long trial where a white man kneeled on a black mans neck for 8 minutes on camera and still many were surprised by him actually being found guilty.

I knew what was up with Kamala the second they did a photoshoot of her family & she through all those who actually looked black in the back of the photo :lol:

The way she frowned up like it was a ridiculous notion to even think this country is racist.

You could almost see the donation dollar signs in her eyes.

I understand that she is a Vice President and she has to lead, but to say that America is not a racist country? She didn't even attempt to skip past the question, in fact when she felt like she walked passed it, she paused and went back to say that the country isn't racist. And Tim Scott is a ****. Bending over and spreading his cheeks for them racist crackers.

We already know what it is with Kamala. Her reputation in the bay is trash. When she was tryna run for president she blatantly said she's not gonna do anything only for black people. Black folks did not get behind her, then they repackage her with Joe and now she's supposed to be the female remix Obama. Just another symbolic figure, not gonna actually do anything. Then her husband is white, it's always been red flags with her. Nice looking lady though.

That situation with the 16 year old girl...you called the devil. What did u expect to happen???

I took electives in wood craft (completely useless) in middle school and Honors organic chemistry in high school. These electives exist but you can't please everyone. If you wanna be a plumber go shadow someone.

probably easier to form a relationship with nearby community colleges that offer these courses

Took accounting in community College in high school and I still pay someone to do my taxes .

Plenty is summer programs kids can look into after i figured out I didn't want to be an accountant, lawyer, or engineer I did a biomedical career program at a medical school during the summer for 3 years.

There are avenues to getting non-conventional courses or training outside of high school.

I get what Kamala was trying to say. She basically went on a rant about how America IS racist but I guess she meant it shouldn't be? She gave the diplomatic answer which is what politicians do.

Either way she's my boo and definitely an upgrade from orange fat man. :pimp:
