I don't consider black a culture.

Before engaging eachother y’all should be clear on how you define the word culture because it’s clear you guys aren’t using it in the same context. It’ll save you both a ton of grief

(Black) American.

perfect

so you are a Black American. There are 2 parts to that

1) you are Black
2) you are American

me I am Black, so is EVERYBODY who is descendants of Sub-Saharan Africa. We all carry the scars of enslavement OR colonialism. We all are systematically oppressed in our own countries. We all have for the most part like big booty women, we all have dark skin and melanin and course (nappy) hair. We all have rhythm and can dance much better than other groups of people naturally.

yes we are all from different parts of the world for the past 400 years or so, but we all were together for 10,000 plus years in Africa first and our dna is still the same. You may be American, I may be Jamaican, another dude maybe Brazilian, another guy maybe from Ghana.

We have different religion or nationality (passport) but we are ALL THE SAME.

a black man from New York isn’t going to go out of his way to say he isn’t the same as a black guy from California right? So why go out of your way to say you are different from the guy in South Africa?

I hate to always bring this up, but I’ve travelled for personal reasons to atleast 25+ countries with black populations. Yes, there are differences. However, the similarities are OVERWHELMING. We go through the same things on a macro level.

BLACK CULTURE IS CONSISTENT ALL OVER THE WORLD.

My little sister can't dance, & at it's core me & someone from Cali has lived the American experience; which is a struggle and privilege. More than likely, l'm gonna have more in common culturally w/ some random white person in the states than some random black person on the other part of the hemisphere. This is just common sense man.
Y'all dudes bickering about culture yet no one is talking about the important stuff.

Like which one of you dudes gonna me dat Prince Ifatunde action figure for my B-Day. It's on the 26th, I want to turn 34 being apologetically BLACK!!!
DCAllAfrican DCAllAfrican as the leader of this thread it's will u purchase this man his doll?

marikomorose marikomorose

Acknowledging that Black Americans possess their own culture doesn't mean/imply EVERY single Black American is deeply rooted in each minute detail of that specific culture.

Consistent themes of colonialism and enslavement are shared, yeah. Although, I'm going to go on a limb and guess that the (Black) American Culture is different from the (Black) German Culture.

Black (American's) definitely have a CULTURE of their own.
OUR own.

WE are the children of The Blues, and then all that extends from the culture, of which WE created.

Everything that is celebrated on this site? Comes from BLUES CULTURE, from style of dress, manner of speak, attitude, spiritualism, strength and awareness, all forms of ART and last but not least, POLITICAL ACTIVISM.

WE HAVE RESHAPED WHAT BEING BLACK MEANS AND TURNED IT INTO POWER THRU INFLUENCE. NOT WHITE PEOPLE, NOT AFRICANS, NOT ASIANS, NOR EUROPEANS CAN CLAIM THIS.

SAY IT LOUD, I AM BLACK AND I'M PROUD.

THIS IS OUR ****.

Brah, you just don't get it. Umar Johnson is NOT a representative of the black conscious movement. Put your hopes and faith in a man of his statue and he will always lead you astray
