OFFICIAL THE WIRE THREAD.. ''The game is the game"

Seasons 1,2,4 🔥

1 the most easy to watch, drug dealers and cops, everyone is attentive, 1 also installs the show, the fact we would follow each character, the fact it's not Manichean...
No efforts needed
2 is less about thugs and more about crooks, less about frontal violence and more about tricks. It's different but 1 could be Breaking Bad and 2 Better Call Saul to say it differently.
4 is like 1, very easy to watch, and as we followed adults since the beginning it offers another point of view and a kind of prequel of how people turn into thugs or not, no matter who their family is and what was expected from them.

Only watched the show once but I remember 3 & 5 were boring in comparison of other seasons. Interesting but a lot of talk and not enough action, at least from what I remember.
Plus medias & politics are not my cup of tea so...

I've said it too many times to go into an in-depth explanation, but Season 5 is perfectly fine. Templeton's storyline is literally derived from the Janet Cooke scandal at WaPo in the early 1980s. He fabricates his stories, and when McNulty realized that, he went all-in on the serial killer thing, knowing Templeton would go along with everything and never question it.

The whole series is too damn good. S5 is the weakest, I got the point, just didn’t care for the publishing side but the accompanying storylines ending made it fine.

Season 2 touches the “white” organized crime side of things. Once you accept that you’ll appreciate it a little more.
I can see that angle based on the first two episodes. It’s just not that interesting yet.

And to that I always say just cuz it happened in real life doesn't make it good tv.

Nobody gives a **** about journalism like that. Season was just not well thought out.

This damn near ruined the season for me. The saving grace was the continuance of the storyline for key characters.

Not false because more security in the streets is a good way to be liked by people

He must have thought about us, we need some action

What could have been a season 6 about ?

I’m a fan of S2 but starts really slow imo. Took me a while to figure out who the new characters were. I was confused at first that Nick looked exactly like the FBI agent lol

Just because it's derived from an actual scandal doesn't mean they executed it well though.

This whole time I was thinking what a “wire” would look like in the iPhone/social media era

A Season 6 where they got into the arrival of the iPhone and the beginning of social media criminal activity/the web/technology being more involved in illicit activity woulda been dope.

which reminds me I saw the David Simon dude got a limited series coming soon about police corruption in Baltimore set in 2015

Gun task force series. Should be intersecting.**** get deep and wicked. The boys killed one of their own, who was about to bring down the corruption.

Also….

This **** soooo f’d up over here.

Just started Season 2 of my rewatch. Kind of dreading it lol. Wasn't a big fan of the Sobotka storyline.
