for after care do the artist tell you exactly what brand to buy for soap/moisturizer or should you already be prepared?

and if the latter, any recommendations?

Aveno for 2-3 days and lubraderm (spelling) after that until it’s not itchy anymore. I keep it wrapped until the next day too when it’s new

every tattoo artist is different. Some like aquaphor and some don’t. I usually do unscented dove soap and lotion but this time around my artist told me I could use antibacterial soap and cocoa butter lotion.

Eee.... if it wasn’t so late I’d say to keep it in the plastic but that’s too long imo

I’m not an artist but just leave it on till you can’t. More then a full 24 hours seems like a lot but I’m sure the area tatted and the way your artists tattoos plays a big role.

I left mine on for a about an hour after my second sesh. Had a sesh the day before and kept it on for the night. I was traveling too.

Thanks for the advice fellas.

I'll ask the artist and try to make the best of my situation.

Edit*

Just checked TSA and I'm allowed to bring a bar of soap on the plane so that should make things easier

The last guy that tattooed me used this almost like clear sticker thing to put over my tattoo and I was supposed to keep it on for 3 days or so. Hopefully all these tattoo guys are using it cause it is super useful rather than cellophane and tape.

I am getting the tattoo itch again cause I always get something around my birthday. I wanted something quick and simple unlike my other couple of tattoos. I wish I can fly down to SD and get a Honkey Kong tattoo. He's his own cartoonist. He's tattoo Action Bronson's hands.

Probably Tegaderm. The artist that did my left sleeve uses it on all the tattooes he does. Healing is so much easier/cleaner than the traditional method of saran wrap til the first wash til next day. I find with Tegaderm I deal with much less peeling too.

Tegaderm was developed for burn victims and lets the skin breath though it won’t leak. At least that’s what I was told.

That’s what my guy uses too. **** works great. Especially on smaller pieces.

good for spots with not a lot of movement. good for people who want to workout after a tattoo too.

I just rake my time and soap the edges as I go. Had it from my shoulder to wrist after the first session. Whole right arm outline was done in 8 hours and wrapped up.

Yup. That was it. He did mention they used it on burn victims too. I will say it does get unsanitary if you are bleeding a lot like below. After 2 days, the blood gets really disgusting so I popped a hole to let it out but then it would just start leaking onto my shirt at times. It worked great on my outline that I did but for some reason, it didn't work that great on the fill.

Yeah, I always remove it by the third day and I have had pooling after pretty traumatic shading sessions.

Yeah alot of those top tier guys charging cause of who they are. Dont blame em I would too though. $1000 for 6-8 hours of work is on the cheaper end though  but I get what you mean.
Think I'm spoiled. I used to get Steve Butcher & Matt Jordan for $1,000 a day. No tip required. No idea how much Steve charges now, but he's in Southern Cali so I imagine through the roof. His profile has also shot through the roof too.

My last tats are pretty much healed and I said I wasn’t gonna get anymore, but I’m craving more ink lol
