I think there is a sizeable, wealthy, politically engaged, and currently voiceless constituency within the American US community - people who are breaking or have broken with Israel but who still have strong identity as Jews. Establishing an advocacy group that decouples Israel from the well being of American Jews could simultaneously strengthen the bond with Democrats while weakening the ADL and American Zionism.

The Bund: A secular, socialist movement that rejected Zionism in favor of do'ikayt (Yiddish for "hereness"). They believed Jews should stay and fight for equal rights, cultural autonomy, and socialism within Poland rather than emigrating to Palestine.
This was one of two Jewish movements that opposed zionism during the third reich.
