1. I said populist "rhetoric".

2. I'm not making a comment on the likelihood, the future is unclear and had to predict. I'm just saying Tim Scott would be really really though assuming this new political realignment holds.

Highlight where in your comment you said "rhetoric"....

The nightmare scenario is that Tim Scott becomes more economically populist while maintaining the respectable republican sheen.

he then takes back the suburbs and does even better with black and brown voters.

he'd be a monster candidate. lettuce pray he never wins a republican primary.

If I missed it my bad. But even then, Trump's fake populism only worked because he combined it so heavily with white identity and white nationalist rhetoric. I don't think populist messaging works as well if he combined it with diet black empowerment rhetoric. Who the messenger is matters imo.
