the question I have is how do we make the government more efficient?

i've worked for two government agencies and there are legit people who dont do anything.

a friend of mine is a fed whos a G11 and he legit brags about playing games all day and sending 1 email. and I know hes not lying because I used to work at the same agency as him lol.

I had a hidden movie room at a government job. Had a fridge and popcorn maker in there and everything. 75% of your day was nothing.

“A moving truck is a working truck” is the motto.

This is an issue I agree. I’m for union protections and I get you aren’t going to be working as hard as private. But you should at least be productive for 4-5 hours during the day.

Soooo, my government job was contracted out because like I said they legit don’t do ****. They made their own bed so they can lay in it.

Delta would ask them to do a simple task like plow a gate. “Nah we’re on break for 2 hours”

Contractor pays twice as much so I went to work for them.

Both are union, I’m IUOE at my summer and contractor job. The government I used to work for is teamster.

I’d legit clock in, hide for 8 hours and go home and that’s what they told us to do. :lol they are gonna stop hiring and contract out more and more work. That’s what the director of the government agency told my new boss.

Damn. I can't imagine having to hide for 8 hours a day. I've always liked to stay busy at the jobs I've had. It makes the day go by a lot faster. Nothing makes time stand still more than having to find something to do. Thirty minutes can feel like two hours.

On immigration. I don't think this is going to go as planned.

the job was stupid man, toxic as hell too because there is nothing to do but cause problems.

I'm not saying you need to slave away at the ball crushing factory for 16 hours a day but like you said the days are so long. it's better to just have something to do.

then they had the nerve to try and strike, you mf'ers make 100k+ a year to drive trucks all day and hide.

I'm all about supporting workers but those guys were living in an alternate universe.

Another thing that would sound good except for the fact these guys are just going to cut essential services/regulations to line their own pockets instead.

They’re definitely not going to make the nonsense immigration process more efficient. They’re going to cut safety regulations so Tesla and Boeing can build more cheap and $@$@ exploding cars and planes without any consequences

Yeah don’t get me wrong. The government wastes entirely too much money but I’m not trying to have people lose their jobs. Just do their jobs.

People not doing their job is such a small fraction of the waste anyways.

This is also the other thing I hate about people in this country. Blaming immigrants and others feeding off the system but they won't look themselves in the mirror and say that about themselves when its them who benefits off the system. Cowards.

Any Trump supporters care to explain their thoughts on Republicans wanting to eliminate the Department of Education, which helps millions of lower income-middle class people attend universities, all while they themselves graduate from the most expensive schools and universities in the world?

I thought Democrats had forgotten the working class? I thought we didn’t want this type of “coastal elite” behavior? Or is it cool for Baron Trump to attend NYU with personal guards like royalty , while you sit at home unemployed and getting your education from Joe Rogan because Latinx and transgender people made you angry?

Also, creating a new government agency with a DOGE acronym is typical Elon 8 year old sense of humor. Literally the same thing as my friends and I typing 80085 on calculators in 3rd grade, except this is from a 50+ year old man. Embarrassing
It's so he can pump DOGE coin. Probably owns a ton. I'm expecting a lot of scams and grifts in the crypto world, gonna be the wild wild west for the next 4 years. He's already started with his own token :smh:

A few things we knew this time 20 years ago

-This was now a permanently center-right country

-Gen y (or millennials as a few people were saying than) would be a very conservative generation based on how 18-20 year olds voted and they will be far more religious than their parents.

-The Democrats need to stop talking about gay marriage and gay rights, it’s a huge liability.

-Republicans were going to have the Hispanic vote on lock forever.

We saw how those predictions fared.

Obviously, Trump is less norms constrained than Bush. But Bush had an experienced team on his side who had worked the levers of state for decades. Moreover, the general public was more socially conservative and the material conditions of the working class was better. And while social media has harmed our political eco system, it is still a useful tool for coordinating demonstrations and informing vulnerable people of an impending risk e.g. crowd sourcing real time alerts of attempts to by ICE to deport people).

I am not dismissing what we are facing; but the electoral map and partisan balance in Congress obscure Trump and the GOP’s weaknesses its many weak spots which can be exploited.

This is one thing that could split his coalition.

There’s one part of his coalition who are strivers. Another part hate the America Academy because they see it as gay, feminine, and subversive.

One group wants to send their kids to a good public university to get a STEM degree. The other group shares manosphere memes about baristas with nose rings and green hair despite living in the exurbs of El Paso.

No one has given me a clear explanation to this.

I personally don’t like those bull ring neon haired people either. I find them obnoxious and over the top, even though I share most of the same values as them. To me, their behavior is 100% performative for internet clout and to feed their narcissism.

However, they are not a significant part of my life to make me want to binge watch right wing media complaining about one or two transgender athletes in a 400+ million population country .

Telling me that’s a rational reaction is something I will never accept. To me it’s the equivalent of saying “I don’t like that this restaurant has disgusting Brussel sprouts on the menu, so I’m going to go outside and eat the dog @$@$ on the ground instead.”

The percentage of people in real life going out of their way to tell that you’re a bigot for not dating transgender people, watching sports is toxic masculinity, etc. is practically zero. TWITTER IS NOT REAL LIFE

If the Dems weren’t so beholden to the military state, THIS would be a winning issue. It has the vibe of “America First” but it addresses a real concern for Americans, without resorting to performative cruelty as public policy. In fact, it would strengthen public trust in Congress.

Dual Citizenship is an actual form of dual loyalty. It’s a matter of law and legal obligations to a state. Since states have conflicting interests, you have a legal and professional conflict of interest.

Mike Huckabee is a human blob of worthlessness. He is almost a literal sack of crap. I would love to ask 500 people who ever voted for him what he did for them, specifically. Like, how their lives changed in a meaningful way because of him. I have never, ever heard one person say "oh, yeah, Mike Huckabee, great guy, salt of the earth..." Also, his grifter ghoul of a daughter is robbing their home state blind as well, And, she looks like f'ing Slimer from Ghostbusters. Every time I see her face in a press conference, I expect Egon and Spengler to swoop in and capture her with a proton pack. She has the eternal dumb, mouth breather face.

Was talking to a bartender today who voted for Trump, and literally the only reason they voted for him was because he promised to cut tax on tips. That's it. And, that's not the only bartender I know who has said the same thing. Literally, one single topic that will absolutely never, ever happen, hooked a whole industry on voting for him.
Yeah and he's about to eff everything up and the next dem pres is gonna get the brunt of a bad economy which is gonna take years to fix and people will once again cry "buh my gas and egg prices have gone up" and vote another rep in after 1 dem term. Some dont realize the world of hurt thats about to happen

Nothing says “government efficiency” like needing 2 bosses.
Trump is using secretary appointments as reward for sticking with him.

Just like this man:

Note the number of redundant ministries: two for rural and local development, three ministries dedicated to education, or even two ministries dedicated to communication.

If the Dems weren’t so beholden to the military state, THIS would be a winning issue.
That would also mean Tlaib not flying the Palestinian flag outside her office.

This is also a gripe I had with the people who didn't vote for Dems because of Gaza. As much as the Biden administration fumbled the handling of the situation, this is the alternate reality that they face. A much more sinister, doom and gloom situation. I didn't understand the whole moral victory narrative of not voting to show the Dems up...now you have people in power who don't even recognize your people or land :{
