***Official Political Discussion Thread***

This is what those who conflate race and class never seem to understand: the conservative project is fundamentally opposed to equality, and its adherents have consistently proven their willingness to endure material privation to preserve their relative privilege.

All across the country, there are parking lots that used to be public swimming pools, yet were drained and filled to avoid compliance with desegregation orders. (See Palmer v. Thompson.)

DeSantis and his ilk are all too happy to pounce on any pretense that aids in the destruction of public and higher education.

I grieve for our brotha as I don't think he would call any Republican racist even if they dropped an N bomb on him.

I was just posting about this in the oil spill thread this morning  I didn’t even think about how THEY are going at Pete Buttigieg’s silence but don’t comment on Jim Jordan’s :smh:

The media’s lack of coverage on this is not only weird but it is leading to the spread of misinformation as well as an embarrassing lack of accountability, in this case for the Trump administration who catered to the railroad lobbyists.

The state of journalism is said as hell

So I’m an eagles fan.. and on Sunday a story got released that fangio got a contract to act as a consultant for 2 weeks

Of course irrational fans reacted.. on here, eagles fan had to explain dude was already working for the team all year

In zero stories I’ve read on it have they mentioned that fangio has been working as a consultant for the eagles all season

But morning of the Super Bowl they drop a story about the dolphin’s new DC getting a 2 week deal for the eagles

Couldn’t agree more bro. In this day and age it’s super easy to put out articles that are “truthful” but are written to be more compelling by omitting information.

IMHO you have to do like 5-10 minutes more of quick, additional research to get a better idea of what’s really going on with a lot of topics. Problem is folks aren’t willing to do that go off of clickbait headlines and/or the first article they read (which may often even be one-sided and factually incomplete).

so I put on my #NTdetective hat on,

Regional Reporters Association, no members list on their website or even full list of news outlets.

You’re out here doing gods work. Thank you sir. It’s not a complete answer, but it’s a start!

Don't really follow "mainstream" media much but why do people assume they don't cover these things? Isn't OP a CNN article? If anything they would gladly cover anything like this for the engagement it would stir.

This stuff works to get Ron love and attention in conservative media, which might help him win a primary.

Joe Biden won't take the bait tho.

Joe vs Ron is gonna be about Ron's desire to cut social security, medicare/medicaid.
It's gunna be Obama vs Mitt strategy.🙏

as wrong as I think many progressive activists are about the trans stuff.
I highly doubt normal people are going vote for a president based on a super niche highly online issue.,

Today I almost got hit by a pick up truck going to the doctor's office, so I was remind of one of the unpopular but necessary policies America should adopt.

Ban big trucks and SUVs, unless someone needs it for work.
I don't need my Expedition for work, but I do need it for hauling around 3 hockey bags.

I mean yes, it is an article but they are few and far between. I was looking on CNN.com Monday and the front page was UFOs > GOP vs Dems nonsense > Super Bowl recaps. Nothing about oil spills. Similarly, MSNBC and Fox News had nothing on their front page either.

There are more quotes out their from the President, Cabinet and Congress about UFOs and "woke-ism" out there than there are this. That's ridiculous to me.

I am sure a Subaru Outback can handle three hockey bags

I go farmers markets and I have seen libby white people transport all kinds of cargo in a Subaru.

Seen five guys in matching flannel hop out of a Forester, then pop the truck and pull out multiple cases of artisanal honey, and a goat. A goat.

Caucasians are doing amazing things with Subarus these days.

They are showing the country a new way

I think I will forever only drive an SUV. You can’t beat the comfort being somebody who is 6’2. I had a challenger as a rental down in Florida and being that low sucked.

Plus loading stuff in and it being hip level and being able to drop the back and middle seats to put in a TV or something. Rather than dropping bag in the trunk and then having to pull them back up. Yea **** that.

It is not just from my own personal experience.

Big cars are a major problem for pedestrians...

Mix bad drivers, with poor traffic control, lack of public transit, Americans bad aggressive driving, and large cars, you have a recipe for a ton of deaths.

People driving smaller cars on a large scale will save a lot of lives and probably drive down gas demand.

I understand the convenience arguments, but I don't accept them because it would be better for the country on a macro level of people weren't in these vehicles in the scale we have now
