It's actually a pretty sad condition from what I've heard from friends or coworkers at the mental health non-profit I volunteer for. I think this kind of condition is generally unfairly stigmatized as malicious by default, and to be fair it often is malicious, but there's also patients out there who feel constantly tormented and frustrated at their inability to stick to the truth.

Yeah I was talking about this with someone recently. Even if you have a mental illness those are still real people that feel the effects of your actions and they're under no obligation to be understanding.

Santos is interesting to me on many levels

East Coast bias is real, if Santos was from Arizona, Texas, Georgia or even California his constituents would be mocked for how stupid and low information they are because they let a fraud get elected. It’s NYC so that doesn’t come into the picture. He was in the limelight for like 3 years. How he wasn’t vetted is amazing.


It’s a marvel just some regular type (un-wealthy) can just grift his way to the US Congress. Especially being a double minority in the GOP. You know Santos is going to be some commentator who makes lot of money from this whether he resigns or not.

Also, I was listening to a podcast from the other day (Adam Carolla's) and he had a guest on who is actually on the board of directors for the National Archives, so he's very much in tune with the situation. It's not why he was on, the subject came up. Adam didn't know he had that position, so it was kind of a reverse "gotcha!" moment. This guy explained that, while the process for retreiving docs and getting them to the archives is much better than it used to be - literally, black vans pull up and boxes are tossed in and sent directly there - things do slip through the cracks.

There was a famous incident where someone on JFK's staff had all these docs regarding the Bay of Pigs invasion. It was sitting in this woman's attic. Nobody knew where they were until she died years later.

Ultimately, he said that once they figure out something is missing, they track them down and kindly ask for them back. Biden did exactly that. Trump did not. He said that's why Mar-a-Lago was raided. He said the probe into Biden is to figure out how they ended up there, not to bring him down or anything.
