***Official Political Discussion Thread***

I went to a comedy show a couple of years back and the comedic made a joke about dudes eating their own "Jimmy wine"

I was in the audience like...

The setup and structure of the story he was telling definitely made me feel he jacked it right off of here.

I tried to tell the girl I was dating at the time what happened but she wasn't taking me seriously, that's when I knew she wasn't the woman for me. :smh:

Good grief man. Dude, it seems like you are putting a lot of effort into divorcing yourself from reality because you don't want to accept your side caught a fair "L".

Obama didn't make calls to unify moderates for Biden. It is hard to respect an analysis based on things that didn't occur.

You argue endorsements hurt Bernie, comparing them to an assassination while ignoring the fact dude didn't work for key endorsements, attacked the "establishment over and over, said that other Dems politics were radically different than his, and had a beef with the person closest to him politically. And the crime is that everyone didn't let Bernie pull off his plan of getting a plurality of support but failing to secure the nomination, and demanding the same establishment he attack hand him the nomination. Like are we forgetting part of his plan was hoping a billionaire that bought his way on the ballot would help split the vote of his opposition?

Ok brah, it wasn't incompetence, it was capital

Socialists in this country will not advance their cause if they rely on telling themselves fanciful stories.

believe it or not, there have been confrontations between capital and challengers to capital outside of the 2020 Democratic Primary.

Big picture, capital uses a variety of methods to maintain hegemony. It would rather not have to resort to violence. It would prefer to manufacture consent with the use of the press and other media and cultural institutions and create an environment where no one runs for office on a platform of challenging it. In fact capital would prefer that no one consider challenging capital.

Sometimes, politicians will run for office and challenge capital. Of course, capital will try to stop that candidate from getting elected. Naturally, capital will attack the candidate’s weaknesses and the existance of those weaknesses does not change the fact that capital had its thumb on the scale for the candidate that does not challenge capital.

Sometimes, a candidate wins the election and than capital might try a capital strike. Financial markets might conspire to remove capital from the country that rendered the “wrong” election results. Perhaps economic sanctions will be imposed. Oftentimes, capital will recognize an opposition leader, who is more friendly to capital, as the lawful leader of that country. Assassinations and at the most extreme, bombings and invasions and blockades and genocides will be used to correct what capital sees as the wrong result.

No political action, that concerns capital, exists without capital providing as great a headwind as a country’s legal, political, social and economic structures allow. Obviously leftists do sometimes get elected so it’s not like capital is all powerful. At the same time, advising the left that it can build power simply by finding better candidates is bad advice and ignores systems that are so sometimes hard to see but are nevertheless powerful.

This rhetoric actually sounds a lot like some of the troublesome rhetoric from those on the far right.

The difference is they substitute capital for something racist.

IMO it's the the distinction between the GOP voters who vote against their best interests (the poor and uneducated) and the GOP voters who vote solely in favor of their own self interests (the wealthy and uneducated).
