Ramadan Day 6. Hit up Richmond Hill neighborhood for today's grub. Pizza from Alfie's & some Guyanese fare from Singh's on Liberty Avenue. I watched a video year's ago where Action Bronson was choppin it up at Alfie'a & said the Sicilians here are legendary.

That same video popped up in my head recently & I figured let today be the day for me to try. I got the regular, veggie Sicilian, Upside down Sicilian, grandma Sicilian & spinach pinwheel. My brother got the large pie which was only $15. Prices are very fair here. All my stuff also came out to be $15.

Philouri, doubled, spinach from Singh's, which also, btw, is super affordable. 3 doubles for $4.50.

Love me some good garlic knots
In my experience, most pizza joints can't make proper garlic knots. The ones I posted above look great but they weren't all that. There's only 2 spots that I know that do good knots. 1 spot is in my old neighborhood & the other one close by.

I used to get knots everytime from every pizza place I'd go to but after a handful of disappointing experiences I stopped(minus the 2 that I mentioned are good) idk why but most pizza places can't make a good garlic knot, it's rather ironic.

I’m usually passing through that area by bus and I don’t normally stop there or pay much attention to the businesses there. The only pizzeria I was aware of in that area is Blaze. I usually stick to 5 Guys, the movie theater or Starbucks around there. I do need to check them out and they are also on the Queens Pizza chart. I might go there and Mano’s as well.

Have you been to Mano’s in Ridgewood? What do you suggest?
Yeah, Blaze is good for retail pizza. They've never disappointed me. I can't eat much from 5 Guys minus their fries but they're pretty damn expensive, lol. AMC has the best reclining seats in the business. Pricey tickets but you get what you pay for with them.

I've never even heard of Mano's until I read your post. Their Sicilians look like perfection. Let me know what you think & if it checks out with you I'll put it on my list. I'm slacking... I still haven't been to Philomena's.

It's funny you talk about prices... pizza prices are going up like a MF, well at some spots and they're actually not far from where you bought these.

Had Sofia's pizza on Rockaway BLVD and 112st by Resorts World Casino last week Friday for lunch and I got 1 regular, 2 Margaritas and a Coke and it was $20.

I hate when spots don't have the prices up for you to see price per slice.

Pizza Port is also close by on Lefferts and I get 2 regular, 1 Sicilian and a Pepsi and it comes up to like ~$10.

Don't get me wrong though Sofia's is better and everything but man they taxing.

Yeah, some spots are insane with the pricing. Went to John's of Bleecker 2 years ago & had the large Boom Pie & that was a whopping $34, lol. $20 is wild for what you got. Cost of supplies has gone up, cost of labor has gone up & of course rent has gone up so it is us the consumer who feels the squeeze first & foremost.

Those slices are from Sofia's? They're huge! Nice. I got to check em out. $10 is a lot more doable & makes sense for that amount. And yeah, most pizza places don't have prices up on the menu like it was back in the day. They probably think displaying these egregious prices will scare customers away, lol.

Coming in this thread when you're hungry is a bad idea... I'm so hungry right now!
On this side of the pond, most pizza places do Neapolitan style, which I like but I miss the NY style slice. We start to see a few more NY style places opening up, but we don't really have the culture of just the slice here, it's pie or nothing.

and recently I've been trying to improve my own pizza recipe. Done with a conventional oven.
