Don’t do this. Just copp the Go as a companion
I already have an egpu (UT3G) and tried it with my laptop that I used daily, and the drop wasn't that bad at all (3080). In my brain i'm just thinking one place for games, one install.

You can hook up a eGPU to the Go? What does it connect through?

Yea, but I should specify that I average about 1 hour on performance mode. You may be able to squeeze another half hour or hour on power saving mode with games at lower settings. Prior to buying it, I did a bunch of research on the legion go, ROG ally, and the Steamdeck and I know that all 3 devices average the same battery life. I was sold on the Go's larger screen and detachable controllers.
really? I thought those other devices can run 3 hours. 1 hour is a major bummer and I wouldn't even consider it even if I have a power brick. I mean, what's the point of portability lasting you only an hour of gameplay?

It really depends on what you are playing and how you are running it. Which that being said, the battery life on the Go isn’t great.

Works for me because I only play in 45 intervals or so, and when I play games like SF6 I have it plugged in.

If you want 2.5-3hours I believe the only that offer it are the Ally X and OLED SD. The Go has best build quality, and I cannot overstate how clutch the built in kick stand is.

I have a Go actually. I thought eGPUs needed that other port
The most common egpus are for thunderbolt 3/4 or usb4 ports. Others you might be thinking of is the Asus proprietary one that connects to the original ally and their gaming laptops, or oculink which currently has the higher bandwidth/least drop in performance (until thunderbolt 5 releases soon) but you need a device with an oculink port .

Went ahead and upgraded the RAM in my older custom build Corsair rig too... figured I might as well double the amount of RAM and replace it with higher speed (3600) ram for $76. It will probably be the last thing I do to this PC (currently running a 3070 and a 2TB Gen 4 SSD). Processor is an Intel® Core™ i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz

5090 FE unboxing:

I want one but hate how limited NVIDIA makes the FE.

Also RIP to Evga. You’ll also need a 1000w power supply. I currently have a 850w.

Who in here is upgrading?
I’d upgrade to the FE. But I know it’s going to be a cluster and they’re never readily available.

I have a 4090. Waiting for the reviews in a few days. Might just skip and wait till 2027 or whenever they come out with the 6 series or the next AMD. Both should perform higher and be Skyler capable AI.

What is FE?

More reviews…

Seems like the FE is the best “value”.

You must have a 1000w or higher power supply especially if you get a partner board.

They say the supply is going to be limited on Thursday. Probably worse than the Jordan 1 BREDs lol.

Tried a little this morning... but I'm not hungry enough to compete on launch day.

Glad I scooped my 4090's last spring when demand pitted... insane value.

Now I'm super curious if I'll even care by the time they start collecting dust on shelves, or will I once again wait to upgrade when the current generation is staring at the next.

^^^I tried to cop the 5090 FE on Best Buy. Sold out.

I’m in the same boat. Have a 4090 FE so it’s not a priority. I’d only upgrade for the FE which is going to be the one most sought after due to the size and pricing.

Hearing a lot about how loud and warm the FE is running... I was only interested in that guy as well, second guessing now. The SFF stuff might be a bit immature.

Can't believe people lined up for days to get a $2000 piece of pc equipment. I thought we were hurting out here.

Couple weeks now post 5090/5080 launch and still the situation is dire. It also doesn’t help that AMD and Intel aren’t trying to compete. I wish the Chinese would try to drop graphics cards to compete with America.

I got samsung neo 49” monitor. Took some getting used to, but after 24 hours and some adjustments, im hella happy.

whew. back for awhile before I get super busy. upgraded my EVGA RTX 2070 Super to an amazing and capable 4K gpu. size discrepancy and performance is just massive.
