Appreciate that list, bro. I figured it'd be around the $500 range to start, so I'll go from there. Been watching a lot of vids and it's saying all the upgrades can start to add up but yeah, I'll start from there and upgrade accordingly.

Just copped a RTX 4080 super and I’m not even scratching the surface on this thing yet but i just accidentally found out I can basically see the whole pitch on my ultra wide now

4080 super been calling me. Went back to an itx case and my rx 6800 doesn't quite fit, been rocking it with the front panel off. Want to swap it for a card that fits but I have it mounted under my desk so it really isn't even an issue.

Anyone have the Lenovo legion or the Asus Rog? It's been a minute since I've been a PC gamer, but been wanting to get back into the swing. Any recommendations as to which one is better?

I have a Legion 5 with a Nvidia 3070 and AMD 8 core. No complaints besides maybe the video camera and the touchpad being better. But that's two generations so it might be better.

Added a 4TB Gen 4 SSD (from the old upgrade wbich was a 2TB Gen 2 SSD) and 64GBs of DDR4-3200 RAM (from 16GB) to my latest PC which is going on 3 years old now.

The Legion Go (or one of the other portable gaming PCs) is a great companion to PC gaming. Especially if you like/have Indies. Save the bangers for the rig though.

just upgraded my cpu from a Ryzen 3700X to a 5700X3D and also upgraded from an older 1080p 144hz Samsung monitor to an old Benq EX3203R 144hz monitor. I was initially considering the Odyssey G5 considering it is newer and seems to have a faster RT at 1ms vs 4ms for the EX3203R but anyways, it should be making a whole lot of difference.
comparison between the 3700X and the 5700X3D. reason for upgrading is I felt that my older cpu is showing it's age. I couldn't really afford upgrading to a new system and gpu so I kept my mobo and ram setup. my air-cooled fan for cpu is more than sufficient for the new cpu.
as far as single core processing is concerned, the older 3700x is quite noticeably faster as far as general task is concerned. gaming though is just eye-opening like having a new gpu and could run great at higher settings and resolution. it is really noticeably faster in gaming. also, I noticed my older 3700X seems to be throttling a lot and the fan kept on going overdrive with audible sound at 100% (really noisy like running a blower) consistently possibly due to old paste or just the processor being worn down throughout the years. as far as the 5700X3D, it does run pretty consistent even when running 100% all the time possibly having the fan speed at 30%-40% (barely audible). my older 3700X can barely keep up or hit speed consistently at 4.1 GHZ and just goes bat-crazy with cooling at 4.2-4.3 ghz boosted. the 5700X3D as far as my silicon lottery goes can hit 4.1 GHZ consistently. I know it's slower compared to the older 3700X but it could hit the processing speed like nothing and without heat problems or stressing the card and the fan. hopefully by next year, I'd be able to finally afford an RX8xxx series gpu. if I get lucky, I'll just get an RX7900 GRE but it has to be around my budget of $400 max.
what I noticed that the 3700X cpu was manufactured back in 2019 and the 5700X3D in 2021. the 5700X3D was just released this year though possibly due to potential market if ever the market reception of the newer Zen 4 or coming Zen 5 fails to deliver. so far, the older architecture still delivers and makes you reconsider staying at this platform longer and for a few more years. I had to update the Bios on my older X470 though for compatibility which also enable the stupid TPM 2.0 support and enable Wifi6E. so I had to upgrade to Windows 11 to have that support.

aside from the screen issue (associated with cold-start, failing component and response time), it was time to see how my old system would look from 1080p to 1440p. the older monitor was looking washed out as well so upgrading to the BenQ which is only about a year or 2 newer than the older Samsung. difference though is massive. contrast, black levels and colors (gamut and vibrance) is worlds apart. the BenQ is a pseudo-HDR monitor which is not a real HDR but capable of displaying HDR quality output. also size from 24" to 32" does impact viewing pleasure a lot plus the potential use of a wider screen. I'll be sticking with 2K for PC for now. I wouldn't be upgrading to 4K anymore since I have a 4K gaming tv for that.

Just got this Lenovo Legion Go. Previous owner upgraded it to a 2TB SSD. I only slapped this vinyl skin on it. This this is pretty dope! Runs games smoothly. Only downside is the battery only lasts for about an hour, but it's to be expected. I have a 65w power bank I keep with it.

1 hour? that's annoying as hell. I remember from way back when I had to bring my Asus ROG G73 to work everytime. if the laptop weight was bad enough, it only lasts 1 hour on battery. had to bring the power adapter with it which is also heavy. Think i'm gonna go ahead and replace my gaming PC with a Go since I rarely fire up my gaming pc. Couple it with an egpu.

Yea, but I should specify that I average about 1 hour on performance mode. You may be able to squeeze another half hour or hour on power saving mode with games at lower settings. Prior to buying it, I did a bunch of research on the legion go, ROG ally, and the Steamdeck and I know that all 3 devices average the same battery life. I was sold on the Go's larger screen and detachable controllers.
