So.... if you're a Raider fan you already know the drama thats been unfolding already this off-season with Al vs Kiffin. Kiffin wanted to can Ryan asD.Coordinator, Al over-ruled him and as of now are holding onto Ryan. Al gave Kiffin a letter of resignation, Kiffin refused to quit and told Al to fire him.We hired Lofton to the coaching staff with reports that Kiffin didnt know about it. Then reports Kiffin did.... $*@ is going on in Raiderland??????? Drama, drama, drama..... Now there is rumors of Ocho Cinco coming to Oakland?http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...nd_Raiders-Chad_Johnson_Oakland_Bound_-310108 How much is true? Is any of it true? We havea high draft pick, who do we target? What free agents will we go after? What are we going to do with Nnamdi who has turned into a top CB in the leauge who maywant to become the highest paid cb in the leauge? Do we resign Fargas? Let him walk and draft McFadden? This is going to be an interesting off-season, andunfortunately as of late has been more interesting than the season itself.

Now there is rumors of Ocho Cinco coming to Oakland?

Not sure what to think of that, I'd rather themre-sign Nnamdi

-Re-signing Asomugha is the no. 1 priority
-The running back situation will be interesting...I really want them to take McFadden and I have a hunch Al Davis will do that, but Fargas will have to go ifthat occurs. Frankly, Fargas is great and a hard runner, but McFadden is on another level-dudes like him aren't that easy to find-but if they draft someoneelse with their top pick I wouldn't be too mad
-Kiffin better still be coach next year.

Umm, why was my post deleted?
Here it is again

So we got some Raiders fan on NT huh,
pimp.gif

SoHI 23's steps to get the Raiders better

1. Al Davis falls ill and sells the team in a last ditch effort to make some $$$
2. Hire an actual GM
3. Draft D-Mac
4. Give Nnamdi a long term contraxt, he deserves it
5. Acquire a good WR, sign Bryant Johnson, trade for Ocho-Cinco or try and get Fitzgerald
6. Sign Jared Allan, he's been a lifelong Raiders fan, grew up in the Bay(healthy Burgess+Allan=
eek.gif
)
7. Upgrade the O-line throught the draft+free agency

I can dream right,
laugh.gif

Allan will get franchised if he doesnt sign an extension most likely... but the lions wanna dump Saun Ridgers. Should we resign JP? he opted out his contract. If we could trade for Chad w/o giving up our no.1 and resign JP, Johnson, Porter, and Curry would be lethal w/McFadden at rb..... just a pip dream tho...

This is what Al needs to do ...

Hire a legit GM
Give control to your head coach... let him fire/bring in his own coaches
develop Russell (protecting him with an legit O-line and RB)
Sit back, pop a viagra and watch your team win a SB before you leave this earth

simple no?

WORD.

That would be some $#!+ if we brought in Ocho Cinco, DMac, and Jared Allen.

Honestly.. let Jerry Porter walk.. I rather sign a guy like Stalworth if Pats release him.. but the guy I really want is lavelle hawkins if we can get him inthe 2nd-3rd rd...

If D-Mac or Chris Long aren't available.. we should move down a little and acquire more picks.. Sedrick Ellis (DT, USC,) Ryan CLady(OT, Boise State),Jonathan Stewart (RB, Oregon).. depending on how far we trade down

The Panthers have 2 tackles and 2 guards that will be Free agents, The Broncos also have two tackles and a center that are going to be free agent.. wedefinately need to sign a couple of these guys if they aren't resigned.. the reason I'm singling these guys out is b/c they are used to the zoneblocking system.. I know you guys are going to say our Oline did a lot better but these guys are more talented

Depth at Corner and Safety are a concern so a guy like Randall Gay would be nice

DEs or LBs such as Jared Allen, Karlos Dansby or Terrell Suggs (can play LB or DE) would be intriguing if they actually hit the FA market

Finally.. If Albert Haynesworth hits the market hes definately worth a look and is very young !

Also a QB like JD Booty or Josh Johnson would be nice in the 3rd-5th rounds

I hope Lane Kiffin gets this year to prove himself.. but the guy I really like and want is Steve Marucci

what we need to do is spend some dam money. if we get run dmc id be happy but rahter take a defense player such as chirs long or ellis from usc. but if we getchad i would go crazy. but first we need to sign Nnamdi. i say we do this first round go after a defense player then trade a 2nd pick and find something elseworth trading for chad

Porter is gone, that a given.
He was singing "I'm free at last" at the end of the last game during the year.
+$+% him anyway, Curry>Porter

honestly, *@*! porter. he will NEVER amount to anything. he's been in the league for how long? and he has never proved that he's a premier wide out.

at this point, jamesjett>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>jerryporter.

my two cents

I share a lot of your same points. A lot of what we do in the draft will be dictated by our free agent acquisitions. Unfortunately right now, Oakland isn'ta desirable place with all the drama, so I believe we will have to shell out a lot of dough to get whoever we can. With that said, our biggest needs start onboth sides of the lines:

1). We NEED a DT whether we attempt to draft Sed Ellis or Dorsey (assuming he's still available). The AFC West is a power running division and TerdellSands and Gerard Warren aren't going to cut it. We may be able to workout a deal with the Lions and obtain Shaun Rogers. That would give us a lot offlexibility in the draft (and would make a McFadden pick more logical). The only problem i have with Haynesworth is that he had a great year this year becauseit was contract year, but before he had been on the verge of being a bust so I'm not sure about him.

2). We NEED a LT. I believe the best way to go is to find one in Free Agency. I don't really trust a rookie with protecting out franchise quarterback.

3). A Wide Receiver must be obtained. I too like Lavelle Hawkins, but I have a feeling he won't be around in the 2nd when it's our time to pick. Ithink we need to use that second pick on a wide out though. If we look at free agency, Fitzgerald may be available. I like him more than Chad Johnson (no knockon him), but Fitzgerald is young, bigger, and has great hands. But we do need someone who can stretch the field.

4). A Strong Safety that can tackle. I personally like Silva out of Boston College. He may not be the fastest in the draft, but dude is a football player andis ALWAYS around the ball, plus i'm sure he'll be available around the 6th round.

-As for the team we have now, we MUST RE-SIGN Asomugha. Do not slap a franchise tag on him. I have a feeling that would escalate into another Charles Woodsonfiasco.

-Re-sign Fargas for cheap in case drafting McFadden isn't a possibility. Hopefully he won't be trying to get super rich.

-Trade with another team next year's 3rd round pick for this years 3rd round pick. We could effectively do this every year.

-Possibly trade Rhodes for a pick.

-Possibly trade Fabian Washington for a pick. Maybe not. After all, Asomugha took a few years to develop as well. I'm on the fence with this one.

A lot to be done.

update as of 2/10/2008

-Sapp announced retirement
-JP voided the last of his contract
-Justin Fargas is a unfa
-Chris Clemons (8 sacks) is a unfa
-Raiders hired Lofton as WR coach
-Tyler Brayton voided the lasy years on his contract

From Rotoworld:

As expected, Raiders DE Tyler Brayton voided the remaining years on his rookie contract and is now an unrestricted free agent.
Brayton has done little since being a first-round pick in 2003, but has experience at outside linebacker, defensive end, and defensive tackle. That type of versatility will intrigue teams like the Patriots, Ravens, and Dolphins.

finally gonna get rid of Brayton who is another 1st round bust the Raiders can add to their list of busts. Hopefully we do not attempt to resign him. Only goodthing he ever did for us was knee Stephens in the balls
Raiders re-sign Fargas following 1,000-yard season
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Running back Justin Fargas agreed to a new contact with the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday instead of testing the market as a free agent.

Bringing back Fargas had been a priority this offseason for the Raiders. He is coming off his first career 1,000-yard rushing performance last season despite starting only seven games. He began the year as the backup to LaMont Jordan and missed the final two games of the season with a sprained MCL in his right knee.

But he excelled when he got playing time, topping 100 yards four times last season, including gaining a season-high 179 as a backup against the Miami Dolphins. His 676 yards rushing in his seven starts were the second most in the NFL in that span, trailing only San Diego's LaDanian Tomlinson (694).

Fargas finished the season with 1,009 yards on 222 rushes for an average of 4.5 yards per carry. He also ran for four touchdowns.

Fargas became the first player to lead Oakland in rushing for consecutive years since Charlie Garner in 2001-02. He finished with 659 yards rushing last season when LaMont Jordan missed the final six games with a knee injury.

He had only 80 carries his first three seasons in the NFL, spending much of the time on the bench before getting his chance the past two seasons.

By keeping Fargas, the Raiders would be unlikely to draft running back Darren McFadden of Arkansas in the April draft. Oakland will have either the third or fourth overall pick, pending a coin flip with Atlanta, and could have been interested in McFadden if they were looking for a starting running back.

Fargas is expected to go into next season as the starter. The Raiders still must decide whether to keep Jordan and Dominic Rhodes for next season or choose to save money by releasing or trading them. Oakland also is expecting to get a contribution in 2008 from Michael Bush, who missed his entire rookie season while recovering from a broken leg.

Oakland's most prominent free agent is cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, who is expected to be designated as the team's franchise player if he does not sign a long-term deal. As a franchise player, Asomugha would be guaranteed $9.465 million in 2008. If Asomugha signed with another team, Oakland would have the chance to match the contract or receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.

since we resigned fargas, are we gonna dump that bum lamont? he's done pretty much nothing for us. and wasnt worth whatever we gave him. good riddanceto porter. peace homie.

im thinkin if we could manage seddy ellis or that dorsey kid outta lsu, that immediatley helps out our struggling d-line. less focus on burgess, and more1-on-1 for him. signing of allan would be nice, since all the hometown people love it oakland. lance briggs was a raider fan...

getting mcfadden would be great, but i mean, if the line struggles, he's doomed. would we be this far in the hole had we drafted fitzgerald over gallery? i guess its time to start putting faith in jamarcus, i wish we would have took calvin johnson last year, cause this years QB class could throw to him andcurry.

like dude said, i could dream, cant i?

^I believe Lamont requested a trade earlier when his playing time was cut earlier.

I like the re-signing of fargas but i would still like to see them get Mcfadden. If they can't get him Long and Dorsey would bothe be nice additions.

I think Nhamdi must be re-signed and we should search free agency for a LT and WR. Maybe a Bryant Johnson or Stallworth if he leaves. To me anything is betterthen Porter, who I believe should walk.

And obviously Stuart needs to be gone and at least someone should be signed to start. He's probably my least favorite raider, but this offseason will beinteresting.

I still wouldn't count out the Raiders getting McFadden...having a 1-2 punch will always be a great thing to have, especially since the Raiders are verymuch a run oriented team...and although Fargas did do a great job for us this season, he does run very hard for a little RB and isn't as reliable asyou'd think...he gets banged up a lot and i'm sure having McFadden take some of that load will help...

Now, I know we got Rhodes and Jordan too...but Jordan I doubt will be back next season, and although Rhodes did put some spark the last games of the season Idon't know what the plans are with him either...we'll just have to wait and see...I'd love to see Dorsey or Long as a Raider though
