Depends. If he stays with the Niners they likely cut him next year and he doesn't end up seeing all of that deal.

If he takes a paycut it might result in more money long term. If he goes to Denver and has a career reviving season. He goofed signing that year for year contract to begin with though. I'm glad he did tho.

The NFL contract setup puts players at a disadvantage though.

Exactly.

No one is an idiot for not wanting less guaranteed money than they already are getting.

How? He's still an idiot and nobody told him to sign that initial performance year to year contract when he was hot.

Im all for dudes getting that guaranteed money in the NFL but you cant be a crybaby and try to demand trades. A team like Denver that just won a chip wants to give you another opportunity and tell you take less guaranteed money and show and prove and you'll be rewarded. He doesn't want to it seems and he's not hot now...what sense does that make

If he's all about the bread then stop demanding trades and play better on the field & win for the 49ers then

I would consider taking a little less and being able to make it back maybe with incentives but I wouldn't take a huge pay cut. Denver was trying to pay BROCK OSWEILER more money than Kaep's getting this year. What has Brock done again? Oh, go 5-2 and not play well enough to keep his starting job. NFL careers are too short, get as much money as you can. If Denver can revive his career, then he could get a huge payday so it's tough.

I feel you but Kaep currently has no leverage at all. Brock did thats how this works and he played it smart and took the big contract. Kaep messed up and signed that initial contract year to year and played GARBAGE. We wouldn't be here talking about this if he played good. 49er fans don't even want him anymore

This is the same guy that feels he deserves that full guaranteed money on a contender AND he is demanding a trade being a diva? Kaep please  :smh: :x

Hes guaranteed as of yesterday. He might be willing to restructure now because anything else is just a bonus at this point. I'm not sure why Denver believes in him but if they offer anything other than a 5th or 6th they're allowing themselves to be hoodwinked.

Not sure how much leverage his contract being guaranteed gives him though. It's only guaranteed for this season and the 49ers are under the cap to the point where keeping him on board won't take too much of a hit for them.

He likely gets cut after this upcoming season if he stays with the 49ers.

It is what it is with NFL contracts. Kap can't have his cake and eat it too on this one.

Option A is take a paycut, go to a good team with a loaded defense where a resurgence season is possible and cash in around this time next year.

Option B is get paid with the 49ers for this season while likely being the odd man out when they draft a qb. He'll get paid this season but likely won't get the snaps or opportunity he'll get in Denver and it'll impact his long term money when they cut him and other teams don't offer him anything close to the salary he's getting for this upcoming season.

Thats exactly what Kaep is trying to do on this one. Hes trying to have his cake and eat it too.Its not happening dude and ill be very surprised if Elway bends to that.

Kaep can be a fool and gamble if he wants and just may end up being the odd man out being greedy thinking short term.

Kaep is gonna continue to be trash so he better not restructure anything. This his last big payday. Don't let them pull the wool over your head Kaep. Straight cash homie!

#7torms coming.

womder if elway lets him wear #7

dont be dumb kaep. restructure and give yourself a shot for long term money. if he stays in frisco, he will get paid regardless but he most likely wont start and be cut. short term cash uncertain future or take a cut for potential future cash plus stability on a contender.

Kaep needs to keep his money. Zero reason to risk guaranteed money. Denver is the team in a bind, with no real option at QB on the roster currently. If they want him they should be willing to pay his salary.

That's not how the NFL works though. Players get the short end of the stick in terms of leverage and contracts.

You can suck and stink it up in MLB or the NBA and that money is guaranteed. It don't work like that in the NFL.

He's going to get released and lowballed next season if he stays with the 49ers unless 2012 Kap magically comes back.

It boils down to this. If he thinks he can play at a high level again he restructures, goes to Denver and balls out and turns that into a nice contract next offseason or stays with the Niners and goes into camp on a mission and has a bounce back season where they either consider bringing him back next year or if not, he'll get some decent offers from other teams.

If he thinks he's he's going to be the Kap we saw the last two seasons, he gets his money this season, then proceeds to take choose his options out of whatever lowball contracts come his way next year.

Denver is really in a bad spot. Keeping Kaepernick still leaves $60M in cap space. York is cheap like his daddy and won't spend just because the money is available. They can eat his contract and still take on another ugly one at that.

Kaep walking himself right into more guaranteed money is what this sounds like. :smh:

There's a point where you can't really hate anymore...By skill or by happenstance, some of these guys got it made and are playing it right..

Get that money, Kaep. :nthat:

Kaep isn't capable of making progressive reads, Denver is in trouble. Big arm, struggles with pre snap adjustments.

Go Pats.
