Camby tweeted recently Houston is still in the mix. I think Morey ends up going after Gasol again. Asik is the perfect C to play alongside Pau, and Pau can be the focal point of the offense. Pau has two years left. Asik has a three year deal. Three year window to compete, or start to blow things up with Pau's expiring, and you can dangle Asik's big expiring deal as well, down the road. Dwight really is a lost cause at this point for Houston. What's the point of signing Omer, unless you seriously make some moves to shake things up. Even with Dalembert and Camby last year, formidable C's, the Rockets weren't really gonna make any noise.

Plus, Bulls want to try to match Asik. Would point to boozer being amnestied.

The way it's being talked about, it sounds like they are trying harder to get JJ in Brooklyn than Dwight Howard.

I don't think they can afford Nash if JJ comes. Unless you're talking Nash/Deron/Crash only, which reeks of mediocrity.

Bhz, don't you think OJ demands more money than JET?

Blazers Reach Verbal Agreement On Max Deal With Hibbert Jul 01, 2012 8:50 PM EDT

The Blazers have reached a verbal agreement with restricted free agent Roy Hibbert.

Portland reportedly offered Hibbert a maximum four-year, $58 million contract.

The Pacers will have 72 hours to match the Blazers’ offer once it’s signed.

Yea, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind paying for the younger, long-term player. I just don't see an old team trying to remain old and not go after some youth.

Even without the addition of Terry, OJ, etc, Boston is a top 3 seed if everyone from last year just returns.

They could be very scary next year depending on who else they acquire.

I don't see the Pacers matching. They are going to roll with Miles Plumlee and go after Eric Gordon. Maybe they should've pushed harder for a Granger trade to Golden State for Bogut.

Wouldnt need to amnesty him until the third year of Asik's deal too.

I just saw that Golden State isnt offering an extension to Steph Curry....I'm down for a Curry/Granger swap

But I also read, for next season, the Bulls would be very close to the tax if they match. Something like that.

They can, I think but it'd be pretty dumb and I don't think they want to either.

I meant to say this before but since Bird stepped down the same year after winning EOTY and then calling the squad he put together soft before they got knocked out by the Heat I wonder leaving has affected the players there believing they can be contenders for years to come. They all know there will be changes with Donnie and Pritchard.

Would you be willing to part with Lowry to make the Pau trade happen?

. no extension for curry? i thought after trading monta, he would be the face of GSW...shocking

how come hibbert can only get a 4yr/58 mil deal? how is that considered "max contract"? didnt players sign 4yr/60mil deals early this season

Honestly, at this point I'm fine with Hibbert walking. I feel like Plumlee can defend the rim just fine, so as long as we dont try to run any offense through him, or even let him touch the ball we'll be fine. But we NEED to make a splash at the SG spot via a Danny Granger trade

I think he's a RFA so going to another team he won't get as much as if Indy offered the max. The team that had you can always offer more than the team you're leaving for unless it's a S&T. Sorta how Melo got more money by doing a S&T to NYK instead of becoming a FA and signing out right. Same thing Dwight's trying to do now.

GSW not offering the extension to Curry is a bit wild.

I just figure they dont consider him a point guard, and Klay is the future there at SG.  Also, they know he'll want starting SG money when he hasnt played starting SG minutes

thanks for clearing it up

The Asik deal I have no problem with, you get a really good player at a cheap deal and then you get a massive expiring contract as a trade chip.

Roy Hibbert tho...I have a different conception of max deals then NT does, max deals are not just for "superstars ie top 5" they never have been. Max deals are generally for the the top 25 players in the league or guys capable of being the 1st or second best player on a championship team. Carmelo got a max deal, Amare got one and as much as I make fun of them they deserve it, and if someone pays Harden or Eric Gordon a max deal I can deal with that.

but Even if I give you the benifit of the doubt and say that Roy hibbert is a max player this year (imo close but no cigar) he hasn't proved he can do that on starters minutes for 82 games, and for somebody who is 7-2 and the injury history of players that tall, and given how unahtletic he is I wouldn't feel comfortable giving anybody a max deal who I didn't think was reasonably sure thing to go 75+ games at 35+ minutes a night.

Point was with OJ was that he'd demand more, and if the C's re-sign Jeff Green AND Ray Allen? JET might bite for MLE. OJ wouldn't. SOMEONE will sign OJ to a nice offer.

All I know is, Omer Asik fills a big time need, but the Rockets still aren't contending. They need another piece, and if it takes Lowry, then, yes. ...even if it's Pau Gasol.

. I know a lot of my other Rockets fans brethren don't want nothing to do with Pau, though.

I can see not offering Steph the extension from GSW point of view...perhaps, theyre really not confident at all in Steph's ankle/health. Rather gamble that commit money to him...think about it. Steph's issue with that ankle dates back to his college days if im remembering correctly.
