Kobe getting amenestied would be more surreal than when Peyton Manning was released. I think dude would just retire rather than play for another city/team. And Doug Collins resigning :smokin
About damn time. Dude has the most inconsistent rotations and never lets young players develop in games smh

I dont know why you are assuming that if Kobe got amnestied, he would then play for another team. IMO, the only way Kobe is amnestied is if he and his doctor agree that the best thing for him is to miss the 2013-14 season, and come back healed for the 2014-15 season. And if thats the case, Kobe can just resign with the Lakers anyway.

Theres no way the Lakers amnesty Kobe if he will be back next season. But I dont think he will be. The Lakers using their amnesty on Kobe would be the best thing for the team, and for Kobe.

From the looks of things, Kobe basically does what he wants. Both he & Vitti made it clear that he plans to suit up on opening day.

I'd imagine that they'll have this same mindset on July 10-17, which is the only time LA can use the amnesty. So there won't be any amnesty.

Like I said before Kobe coming back for opening day, give Rose more then a year give kobe a few months

Not used to just smiley responses from you CP. Care to explain why my post was funny?

Seriously cause I said the exact same thing to my friends when they asked me how the amnesty of Kobe would work for the Lakers benefit. I was about to QFT Dlands post

I'm not shocked at all.
Season before he arrived in Chicago, 30-52. His first two seasons, 40-42, 50-32, then 47-35 (not a drop off)
Season before in Detroit 28-54. First two seasons, 46-36, 54-28, then 21-24
Season before in Washington 19-63. Following two seasons, 37-45

Philly? 27-55, then 41-41, 35-31, and now 32-47.

You don't need to use advanced stats to predict that.

So much respect for Dougie. Guy is a great coach. He might wanna take a two year break and come back to the game.

if LA does amnesty kobe..

AND he decides he will just sit out all of next season..

AND the lakers do resign howard to the max (need to check the numbers, but i think it's something like 5 years around 120 mill or something..)

AND considering only nash is under contract for 2014-15 of the current lakers roster

what kind of deal would kobe take? what would LA offer?

1, you said you don't think he'll make it back. That's funny.

Then you said it would be best for LA to amnesty him. That's funny.

Then you said it would be best for Kobe. That's funny.

Add that all up, 3 smiley faces.

I know you all get excited about the Lakers failing and what not, but at least try to know what's what. This huge luxury bill is for ONE season, this final season upcoming. Kobe, Pau, Ron, Blake, Meeks, HIll, everyone except Dwight and 1 more year of Nash comes off the books. Everyone.

Why take the PR hit for ONE season of money saved? On top of that, why take the PR hit and treat your franchise player like that, BEFORE you try to re-sign a NEW franchise player?

Remember Dan Gilbert lookin stupid the way he **** all over LeBron? Everyone asked, what played would want to sign up and play for that douchebag of an owner? Well, same thing here. 17 years, and with 1 year left on his contract, the Lakers just cut their losses so they can save some money after signing a 3 billion dollar tv deal a few months ago? :lol

BILLION. 3, BILLION.

But hey, let's cut one of our greatest players of all time after one of his greatest seasons when we know he will kill hisself to get back on our court, and make us another 75 million dollars next season like he has done the last decade.

Yeah.

They have kept the amnesty provision option open in case his knee went out earlier last year or this year, protecting themselves for multiple seasons, but he has only one year left. If they trade Pau, and Ron opts out, they amnesty Steve Blake (or don't use the amnesty provision at all) and save plenty of money that way as well.

The Lakers are not hurting for cash. But hey, what do I know, I only follow every move they make every single day, you all probably know better than I. :lol

It would 100% work to the Lakers benefit for many reasons.

1) Kobe would be given a full year to recover. If we (and I say we as basketball fans not Laker/Kobe fans), hope to see Kobe perform at close to the level he is performing at now, rushing to get back by opening night is silly. This type of injury needs time.

2) Even if the Lakers dont really care to fix their Cap/Luxury tax issue, they could sign players to solidify their team.

3) Kobe comes back a year later to a team that is in MUCH better shape than the team he left.

Which would allow them to make one final push for a title in Kobe's playing days. I really dont see why this is a laughable idea.

:lol :lol :lol

Let me see if I get this right.

Amnesty Kobe, in which they STILL PAY 30 million, then SIGN MORE PLAYERS to pay them, and do all that, to SAVE money?

:rollin :rollin :rollin

:rolleyes

The Lakers could amnesty Kobe sign other players and still save money.

Kobe Bryant makes as much as two max level players by himself.

Its not that hard of a concept to grasp.

Jalen Rose would fit in well in here.

"Cut Kobe so you can sign 2 more players at 15 million dollars each!!!!"

Cuz ya know, that's doable.

:lol :lol :lol

Jim amensties Kobe without warning, Kobe gets pissed. Kobe and Phil go to other locker room in Staples. :smokin

Apparently, it is.

Guys, if Dwight is re-signed, why do you think we could sign more players to X number of millions even without Kobe? We'd still be at the salary cap threshold, how do we get free agents, go ABOVE the tax (again, even without Kobe) and STILL pay the luxury tax? How you guys propose we do that? Can someone fill me in?

Stop saying take out 30 mil, and add 2 15 mil players, it don't work like that ya'll.

for the record if some of your dont know. even if they amnesty kobe they still owe him his money its just not on the books

and with kobes past comments about getting paid max money i dont think he will be open to taken a pay cut for the lakers
