That Kevin Durant verse on the song with Tsu Surf
This. This is the same thing they said the past eraThe league will never be what is was once this latest era is over.
Im talkin about Kobe. Duncan. Pierce. Dirk. Garnett. Nash. Kidd. Who are still active. And the peers who came with them.
When these guys are gone...sad sad day.
There isn't a hall of famer type Center since Shaq, that was the 1992 draft. Don't bring up Tim Duncan either, his position was PF for most of his career. But centers are so depleted from today's game that a 36 year old Duncan and Garnett start at Center now. That's ridiculous.
We have tall guys like Durant and Dirk who can shoot now, that's great. But like I said, no great true all around back to the basket centers. Closest one is Howard in last 20 years, and we all know how his offensive and mental game is at. Howard's more of an Alonzo Mourning type, more impactful on defense and during the 90's Alonzo was a second tier Center.
It's not changing anytime soon either, but just imagine if someone like David Robinson, Hakeem, Shaq, Ewing, from the 90's were playing today. They'd have a field day. I just want to see one big man come along and change things, influence a new generation. Or else it's just a dying breed, and it's a shame because a Center can still be the most impactful position on the court, if they're good enough.
The point guard situation isn't quite as bad, you still have some great PG's who know how to run a team and pass like Rondo and Paul, but that's the NBA. College ball, all you have are 6'2 combo point guards who shoot first. There a dime a dozen, they're everywhere. Most useless waste of talent in the NBA is a combo guard out of college.
Centers and SG's took a step back, while SF and PF took a step forward. PG's are really the most debatable in this "evolution" term y'all like to use so much. Don't just look at the 15 stars of the NBA, it's much bigger than that.

If the Nuggets are the same team as years past then so are the Spurs. Besides for the Clippers they're really the only team that SIGNIFICANTLY improved.
I think the Nuggets will benefit the most with securing home court advantage. If they can steal a road win in the playoffs, they will gave a cery good chance at upsetting elite teams.
Spurs - same team every year, production is the same, we know what to expect.
Thunder - took a step back. Wouldn't be surprised at a 2nd round exit
Grizzlies - have the same amount of go to guys (if not less) than the Nuggets. Huge offensive struggle in playoffs.
Lakers - Dwight coming back into his own and Kobe is Kobe so they'll always have a shot
This Nuggets team has a LEGIT shot at a finals birth if they keep playing this way. I wouldnt be surprised if i see a LAC v. Nuggets WCF
