. Well deserved and class act. Always been a fan of the guy

I just got home from watching the game at my friends house (the same house I always go to where I am the only Yankee fan). This weekend was great, especiallytonight.

Mo' with save #500

, and he had an RBI Walk

. K-Rod should be ashamed of himself.

Congrats to Mo for being the most dominant and consistent closer, EVER.

And I love what he said about Pap.

He shouldn't. When your "bad" year is 18 saves with a 1.01 WHIP, 39 K's in 30 innings, 3 walks, 28 hits in 30 innings, then Ithink he still has about 3-4 more "bad" years left in him.

with Xavier Nady like done for the season the yankees acquire Eric Hinske from the pirates

Hinske to Yankees for minor leaguers

Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Eric Hinske has been acquired by the New York Yankees from the Pittsburgh Pirates for a pair of minor leaguers.

Pittsburgh will receive right-hander Casey Erickson and outfielder Eric Fryer for the utilityman. In addition, the Pirates will give the Yankees cash.

The 31-year-old Hinske hit .255 in 106 at-bats this season with nine doubles, one homer and 11 RBIs, playing right field, first base and third base.

Tryin to pick up ex Red Sox thinkin they gonna do work like Nick Green? But like dude said hes not really an upgrade from Swish or Johnny. Although his arm imsure is better than Johnny's.

O wow what an epic fail that would have been. Although Mo may not have been able to shine and be "as great" if he were on the Tigers.

Im sorry I didnt know I was banned from other baseball discussions other than ones involving the Red Sox. Well I guess ill exit stage right since the one guyin here who was ready to give up on his team last week said so.

F outta here

He makes our bench better.

Good trade

The move was made by the Yankees for several reasons:

1. With Alex Rodriguez neehttp://shots.snap.com/explore/25105...src=&cp=&asp=Alex Rodriguez&dfs=10&tol=engage Alex Rodriguez ding more time off due to his hip surgery (possibly one day a week), the Yankees wanted a better offensive option than Ramiro Pena or Cody Ransom.

2. They are planning to send down Pena later today. They want Pena to continue to develop as a prospect and get more at-bats. But they also want Pena to also start playing some outfield and see if he can be used in the near future as a super-sub around the diamond, much like Atlanta uses Omar Infante.

3. Hinske was a member of the champion Red Sox in 2007 and the AL champion Rays last year, so he is familiar with playing high level games in the AL East.

4. The Yanks only agreed to do it if the Pirates ate $400,000 of the approximately $800,000 left on Hinske's contract.

5. They were planning to send Pena down when Xavier Nady returned. Now that Nady is almost certainly out for the season and needs Tommy John surgery, the Yankees decided to find another bat some place else. They like that Hinske can play first, third, left, right, DH and pinch-hit if necessary.

6. Hinske has just one homer this season, but as a lefty playing in the new Yankee Stadium that should help him rediscover some of his power. But the Yanks remain a team that believes in working opposing pitchers and Hinske sees an outstanding 4.05 pitches per plate appearance even now and averages 3.95 for his career.

7. The Yanks were trying to sign Hinske as a free agent in the offseason and would have had they been able to trade Nady. But once they failed to find an offer they liked for Nady, they decided not to invest in Hinske. But with Nady now out, they decided to revisit Hinske.

8. If the Yanks did not obtain Hinske, they were going to send down Pena anyway and summon Shelley Duncan to try to provide some off-the-bench punch.
When reached in his office, Brian Cashman said, "This gives Joe (Girardi) more options off his bench. When Joe has to rest Alex Rodriguez, he now has another strong option to turn to. Even if we need to rest someone in the corner outfield, this makes it a little easier."
