I’m not sure, but if he’s 45 lbs lighter and wears a large I would suggest sizing up.

I don’t know why he thinks you two would wear the same size

I'd go 1 size up. Im 6' 180 and I do a 44 with a little room. I think a 44 might be too tight on you.

I’d say you being 225 would be right at the limit.

I’m 5’11” and fluctuate from 200-220 depending on the season and all of my Football jerseys are sz. 40’s.

I know once I start hovering around the 215 weight, they all start to get snug as hell and it’s time to get back on the gym grind

I bought my first M&N NFL jersey (size 44), and these things are cut huge! The sleeves are oversized, mostly. They have a similar cut to my Nike and Reebok NFL authentics from 1998-2012. I have a M&N NBA authentic in 44 and didn't think there would be much difference. I'm 5'11" 190 lbs.
