I have to stick up for all three of our bigs, they are just as athletic and knowledgeable at how to play screen rool as the bigs, who are playing for the Bulls. I felt like Odom, Gasol and Bynum had the foot speed to seal off the point guard and deny him the open shot or the ability to turn the corner easily. That is only the primary step, your bigs stepping out to get the ball handlers. You need to at least make the secondary rotation (sending help to the front of the rim to deny the easy catch and finish), then the tertiary rotation (covering the set shooters on the wing or in the corner) and finally you rotate back in your quaternary rotation to cover any one who is open from the FT line out to the front of the three point line.

The Laker players were not even making the secondary rotation so I felt like our bigs did the rational thing, they stayed back and tried to guard the paint and thought that the Mavs' shooting would cool off somewhat. I would rather give up jump shots than step out on the pick and give up layups and that what happened whn the bigs left the paint. 


I agree that we need more foot speed at the point. Derek Fisher knows the game but you need some foot speed to guard other points, especially in a league where so many teams' offenses are built around aggressive, quick and talented point guards, who use pick and roll on almost every possession.





You have a point there. Bynum at least did a pretty decent job and Gasol does defend well when he is not being soft. I just don't like Bynum and Gasol on the floor at the same time.

Derek fisher is not only terrible at covering his own man but he is another main reason why our rotations are so slow. If the player is not going to contribute anything on offense he better do something on defense.

Exactly Kobe stated that he wanted to be placed in a winning situation, He was suppose to be drafted by the grizz or hornets. He adamently stated if im not placed where i can play and not waste away on a losing squad, im going to college. True West wanted him. But it was a win/win for them both. Same as how teams were thirsting for LeBron. He was a free agent tho is my point. I could see if he said, i better be placed which superstars on a winning team, or have superstars placed on my team (btw is what Kobe did those yrs after Shaq, who he had a huge hand in forcing out LAL.)

He outright said i want allstars superstars, or im leaving. So yes you correct in one aspect kobe didnt leave to go with superstars. But look at the organization and the city period. LAL could pull off to get superstars, Cavs management wasnt/dont have the business smarts to bring superstars to CLE, plus the city doesnt have the appeal, or the team legacy that the LA has. So LeBron really didnt have much choice to leave.

Staying in CLE he would never have won anything simply because it takes more then one allstar superstar to win, and cavs management arent saavy enough to get one, and the city/state will never have the appeal to get a person to want to go there to play.

Staying in CLE he would never have won anything simply because it takes more then one allstar superstar to win, and cavs management arent saavy enough to get one, and the city/state will never have the appeal to get a person to want to go there to play.
