Official Jazz thread

I was pleasantly suprised when she released this standards album. The world needs more Amel Larrieux. She's got one of the sexiest voices ever...

Raining here & this came on during shuffle mode. Had to repeat this a couple of times...

i know you jazz heads will appreciate this.

good thread, ive been on a bossa nova kick myself

Been listening to A LOT of Count Basie's band and his small group the Kansas City Seven. If you're not aware of the great saxophonist Lester Young, please take notice. It's early jazz, but it basically started bop

Bebel's father is Joao who played with Stan Getz. My wife & I saw her like 6-7 years ago in NYC. Love her music...

Miles has a knack for hitting a spot in the song to come in & it's like a sucker punch cause it hits you really good...Coltrane had this too. No one was better than these two when it came to that (among other things...)

Alright, last one for the night. Listen to the precision of this song specifically the beginning. Burrell & Coltrane are so on point it's not even funny...

If you really want to watch a great documentary, watch Blue Note - A Story of Modern Jazz. I found a link to a Chinese site that had the whole thing here. It's 91 minutes long & the video quality is pretty good. It originally aired on a cable network in the mid 90's but I can't remember which one. There is a great segment on the album art from the Blue Note records at the 65 min mark. It's some of the best graphic design out there...If anyone watches it, post back & let me know what you think.

I wouldn't really consider this song Jazz, but I wanted to bump the Jazz thread for 2012. I've posted Glasper before. This track's part of a release coming 2/12/12. Can't wait till it drops...

Glasper playing Dilla...Can't get any better than this...RIP Dilla. We miss you...
