I was just looking through NPR's music site when I saw that Shimrit Shoshan died back in August of a heart attack? WTH?!!? She was only 29. My wife & I saw her sit in with Greg Osby in DC earlier this year...She was so talented & beautiful...Damn...RIP....

I think there have been three movies. One in the 30's, one in the 50's starring Judy Garland, & one in the 70's starring Barbara Streisand & Kris Kristofferson. Did anyone know Kris Kristofferson was a Rhodes Scholar? LOL....

goddamit why didn't i see this earlier.. i woulda been in there smh. fortunately i'll be in nyc in dec, i'll try to catch him then.was never up on keith jarrett like that but someone showed this to me the other day.. this is one of my favorite ballads and he just kills it. easily one of the best live performances i've seen:

^ That was great. The Japanese are really into jazz... lots of great Japanese jazz musicians.
Amel Larrieux's got a great voice, but I see what you're saying about her vibrato. Not really saying that it's "too much" but rather, "too frequent" I guess... almost a trembling-sound. Has a bit of a Stacey-Kent quality to it...
