Living in SoCal, not much ice here. So I attempted roller last year, still don't have time to practice my skating. Ice is way too expensive for a college student

Same here, roller hockey is pretty much the only option.  In fact, that's how I broke my right leg when I was younger. 
They have an Ice Rink in Van Nuys with some pickup hockey that I wanted to check out, just haven't had the time.
