OFFICIAL HOCKEY THREAD: NHL, KHL, NCAA, IIHL

That was definitely a missed call on the OT goal.

That said the Oilers are playing stupid undisciplined hockey and then doing nothing but whining and making excuses. Nurse couldn't spell defense if he had a cheat sheet. Both OT goals in this series he's been totally lost.

The thing with the Oilers is that outside of that Calgary 2nd round series last year, they’ve largely been playoff underachievers and underachievers in general when you consider all the talent they have.

2017 they lost to the ducks which is understandable given their first playoff appearance with McDavid on the squad. But blowing that 3 goal lead to the Ducks in game 5 with like 3 minutes left in the game. That’s like the perfect summary of them in the playoffs.

2020 they lost to the 12 seed Blackhawks in the bubble. 2021 they got swept by a Jets team they were expected to beat. Last year they barely beat a Kings team who was just happy to be there, and got absolutely destroyed by Colorado. And yeah I know Colorado was expected to beat them. But that series was one sided on a completely crazy level.

Just saw the replay, that looked like a high stick. Pretty bad missed call

That last angle they showed was clear that the puck was touched by vilardis stick I thought. Wondering if it was something else that had them lacking “clear and distinct” reason to over turn

"It's a play where the greatest player in the world (Connor McDavid) is 2 feet away as it happens and his arm comes straight up in the air because he knows that it hit the stick. Otherwise, he wouldn't put his arm up in the air and keep playing," Woodcroft said. "It appears to me and in video that the puck is going straight up in a trajectory and deadens."

I didn't know Connor McDavid moonlighted as a professional ice hockey referee :|

call me a homer but from the replays I've seen, it went up and down on the same trajectory while flipping end over end 🤷‍♂️

Homer

There’s an angle from the side where you can see the puck stop moving forward and just fall straight down. But they only showed it once after showing the other two useless shots forty times :lol

yeah I mean at the end of the day, missed calls happen and both teams have plenty of other chances to win or lose games. so I don’t think it takes away from the kings win whether it was right or wrong

the dumbest part about this was people talking about rigged for LA, as if the NHL wants Sean Durzi and Jared Anderson-Dolan to make it to the next round over Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl

Ya that's nice and all but when a games outcome is determined due to a missed call it's pretty wack.

Either way this series is going 7 again.

thinking rationally I guess the fact that there's still an argument and new Zapruder film footage releasing the next day makes the "insufficient evidence to overturn" reasonable and the refs saw what they saw in real time.

could be worse though

Edit: but yeah they missed it. Oh well…

Exactly. I agree with ahat ahat that missed calls are whack (and magnified if it’s at the end of a game) but the excuses people make based on them are lame as well

I'm having so much fun egging Oilers fans on. They truly feel that after getting 3 first overall picks in 5 years and the best player of his generation, that the NHL is "out to get us".

I've traveled a bit for my job and the closest analogy for Edmonton would be a small Cleveland. Or a Sam's Club Pittsburgh. The Last of Us filmed in Calgary and Edmonton and the joke was the Edmonton shoot went so fast because they didn't need to change anything.

Downvote for that spoiler photo

Amadio is nice. He took big advantage when Stone was out and they had him playing on the top line.
