I’ve been saying this for years but this season I finally got fully invested into the NHL and it’s been a joy to watch. My ducks STINK but enjoy watching the young guys we have.

Looking forward to the playoffs and seeing this battle in the east play out.

I get the reasons for the Quick trade. But optics wise it’s a bad look. Starting goalie for 2 cup winning squads, 15 seasons or so with the team and abruptly traded to crappy Columbus at the deadline. But to be honest, 31 other teams would’ve made that same move under similar circumstances.

But that’s why I don’t blame players who request a trade if they aren’t happy in their current situation, it’s why I don’t blame any player who is able to successfully negotiate a no trade clause, and why I don’t blame players who chase the money and secure the bag when they free agency over being “loyal” to a team who would ultimately move them after years with the team.

Only loyalty that exists in professional sports is fans sticking with their favorite team during down years lol.

But Quick and Kane traded. End of an era. Those Kings Blackhawks matchups during the cup years was some fun hockey.
