I don't blame you about having doubts. I understand how you feel. Who is the primary owner for Inter Miami? I only know Beckham is one of the group tho

The Willets Point development plan started in 2007. It failed due to the lease thing garage owners have in Willets Point. Wilpons are low tier millionaire people so they cannot afford buying. Then the case got re-opened two years ago

The Mas brothers, they’re local billionaires. Tried to buy the Marlins a few years back but got outbid so they teamed up with Beckham and went into soccer instead. After you posted, I found an article that recently came out that a local vote passed for them to begin development on the stadium project. That said, they still haven’t come to terms on a lease with the city (there’s an agreement in principle for a 99 year lease). They’ll have to demolish the golf course then start treatment on the underlying land, which is apparently contaminated (side note: why is the city letting people play golf on contaminated land?). Needless to say, it’s going to be a while before we get a stadium.

Here’s a link to the article for those interested: http://stadiumdb.com/news/2022/11/usa_miami_freedom_park_overcomes_another_obstacle

I remember this poll….

“Which country is the biggest threat to World Peace?”

US/UK - IRAN!!

Rest of the world - AMERICA!!

I've long accepted that the U.S. government is the true villain in global politics.

Nike couldn't even be bothered with making a new kit for Canada's first WC appearance in almost 40 years :smh:

Their footy division has been trash for a few years now

Nike has been trash for a while now. All these issues with Athletes, their fake social justice, not paying people etc. No wonder Kobe was planning on cutting ties with them.

Yea you saw OBJ is suing them?

They've been moving nasty lately yet always have the most to say

I agree with what others in here have said in terms of not feeling the usual excitement and buzz going into this World Cup. The human rights issues, corruption, and move to the winter have definitely marred this tournament to an extent. That said, once the sporting event starts I’m probably going to revert back to the child in me that used to collect Panini albums
I feel this but I decided to not let ppl ruin the greatest sporting event… we only get it every 4 years (I know this is selfish) but at the same time we have been echoing these issues for years.. while reg joe smoe, has ignored it and only now cares because they saw a Netflix documentary and get to stand on their social injustice soapbox. On a side note I’m worried about the quality of football considering most teams will only have a week lead up.

I stayed away from kits for me. Bought my family the Mexico kits, and a Germany kit for my middle son (he was born there and thinks he’s part German). Got myself an older usmnt anthem jacket. And that’s about it.

You're Ecuadorian right?

Whattttt...

I always thought you were South American.

SO many Dominicans and Puerto Rican Footy fans in this thread.

Where were you guys when I was a kid man?

We were all just playing ball and baseball. Whenever I brought up Footy to Boricuas and Platanos they'd be like...

"I ain't Mexican!! TF I look like!?!" :lol

Only one of them has a realistic shot but Neymar's gonna ruin the party  :nerd:

Portugal has more talent on their squad imo. Manager is holding them back.

Yep, they are criticizing everyone else all the while they have enslaved children creating their products.

The only people I could talk football with when I was a kid besides other Portuguese and Brazilian people were Jamaicans.

That’s literally it.

Then I moved to a predominantly White Suburbs in Westchester and there was no talking about Footy anymore. Couple Brazilians and South Americans. That’s it.

Just kept ballin and playing baseball further more.

Exactly why I don't think they've got a shot, the talent is there but not sure they stack up with some of these other talented squads with better managers.

Argentina has the talent and a manager they've won like 70% of their matches and lost only 4 matches in 4 years with

Looking forward to watching them. Nowhere close to the most talented Dutch squads in recent memory but LVG always seems to get the absolute most from them and they've been in good form and have chemistry under him.

Could see them making another surprise run to the quarters/semis lowkey
