buy a package deal of speakers for about 100-200 bucks or find one on craigslist from a decent brand...
when you buy an amp look for about 500 rms with match subwoofers at about 500 rms combined...
Do not go by watts, go by the rms and make sure to buy a reputable brand.

Rockfords are good, JL audio, kenwood etc...

Example

Today i bought a used 1200 watt acoustik amp dont know the brand it just says "1200 watt power acoustik mosfet, bridgeable, crossover, HPF/LPF, bass bosst, 2ohm stable amp" on it lol . and two used 12" p1 punch subwoofers for $200 is that a good deal?

btw i put it in my 97 acoord special edition coupe. they sound good i just gotta get a noise filter cuz that humming sound is annoying.

Check the ground on your amp and make sure it's secure

in the future, upgrade the amp

My bad about the late response. I have about a 400 budget. I dont want any subs for my trunk, just speakers to replace the ones I have factory installed behind my back seat. I just went to the best buy site and they said I need some 6- 1/2 for the front and some 6 x 9 for the back. My friend suggest that I look into buying an amp as well. I am not trying to shake the neighborhood, nor win any competitions. I just want clear sound and a little bass that I can enjoy.

I got the same problem but I think its the eq I have hook to it because everytime I hit it that sound goes away for a sec, should I disconnect the eq?

It's a tad over your budget, but it's well worth it

Ditch the rear speakers, they're not needed..also, don't go to best buy for audio.

Check all the wiring.

what setup or suggestions would you guys have for an $800 budget? not including extras like a battery, and not including the head unit, and component speakers... %#%@, actually i guess my budget would be around $1000 then. soo.. a stack w/no headunit, thats the budget. btw for the headunit i plan on getting this, or something alot similar.
