Basketball is a team sport that thrives on individuality...it contradicts itself in many ways.

You love the stars but clown them when they fail. Or you absolve them of all shortcomings and blame their teammates. Just to switch it up after a certain period of time just because of "narratives".
I agree with you that exists, but I'm not sure that's so much a concrete characteristic of basketball itself. I think that's more basketball fans, specifically NBA fans.
