Yes. I’ve addressed this already. It is, but doesn’t have nearly the reach of social media outlets like Twitter, Facebook, IG. NT has an approval process. You can choose what threads to view on NT and easily limit what you don’t want to see.

I don’t want to speak for anybody but feel the sentiment is kind of aimed at the platform it provides for folks in general. Mainstream social media has it benefits but there are significant drawbacks. Yes, you can curate timelines and feeds based on what you like (Sports, yambs, black empowerment, industry related stuff, etc) but that is potentially outweighed that the harm is done with fake news and dangerous rhetoric (Jason Whitlock, Terry Crews, QAnon, old folks who don’t know any better, etc.).

That’s at least how I’m interpreting it.

NT is a forum. Forums are vastly different from social networks.
The focus is rarely on any of us as individuals but rather on a specific subject. Like playoff basketball for example.
The anonymous, insular nature of NT combined with the decentralized interactions of posting in a thread instead of on someone's personal page makes it nothing like facebook, twitter or instagram.

i might be splitting hairs but you could argue that online forums like NT, reddit are a branch of social media in that its intrinsic purpose is to allow people to network, debate and connect over shared values and/or common interests. NT =/= fb, IG, twitter in terms of scope, reach, and forms of engagement but I think they serve similar purposes.
