Jeff Van Gundy always explains the frustration with the media/fans focusing so much on "Clutch" stats/situations.
Sure, what happens last SEEMS like it is more important than everything that happens before it but getting off to a good start each quarter and finishing strong at the end of the first is equally as important than finishing the game strong.
Not saying being clutch isn't important, because it is. It shows who has IT. Everyone isn't wired to perform down the stretch.
But a full game needs to be evaluated before we start pinpointing things that simply happen at the end and blaming those instances for wins/losses.
I don't hoop though, what do I know.
