Official 2017-2018 Knicks season thread

Oh ok. Let's continue hiring mediocre coaches then :emoji_thumbsup:
And Fizdale isn't mediocre, why? Because he rode Lebron's **** to 2 championships as an assistant coach that led him to being hired by the Grizzlies and fired (amongst other reasons including their mediocrity) because Marc Gasol thought he was a "phony"?

No thanks. Guy has fraud written all over him. If we go with the assistant coaching route, which I would love, there are definitely much better coaches on the market than Fraud Fizdale. Give me someone from the Spurs coaching tree like the Sixers did with Brett Brown or somebody like Thibs. **** hire Becky Hammond.

Kemba is only at 12 Mill per for two years.
And then after those 2 years are up what do we do with him?

Give a 29 year old a max deal like we did with Melo?

Or let him walk and lose 2 lottery picks just because?

NAAAAAAAHHHHHH

Ain’t no superstars coming here anytime soon anyway so it’s not like we could build it up anymore than what it would be

I don't understand the logic of not getting a all star level player on a team friendly deal for two years because of not wanting to give him a max when he's 29. This team is not committed to the tank regardless if you want them to or not. Kemba will be a 20 and 8 unselfish PG who thrives in the PnR here with KP and I'm here for it. Not gonna waste my time thinking about hypothetical max contract when he's 29 with him being in the prime of his career right now. Since he's on the block the haul won't be that serious and considering how professional he is they'll try to send him somewhere that he wants to be and we all know that's here

Don't think I would give up this years pick for Kemba but he'd be great with KP right now.

I think KP is ready to flourish NOW. He just needs that running mate.

I think it's imperative that we keep this year's
pick. Even if it's in the 10-12 range, we could use another young rotation player.

If it's the 2019 or 2020 pick, I'm fine with giving that up. If everything goes according to plan that pick should be at best in the late teens.

I just don't know how some of you could watch this team for this long and still want them to make the same type of mistakes. It's crazy, man...

Don't trade first round picks for veterans. Not this year's pick, not next year's pick, not the year after's pick. We are not in contention. Do not trade picks.

All the other mistakes on the table and the one thing that has left this team in a hellhole for a decade is trading away picks.

By the way the first thing you folks and the Dolans of the world would want to do once we traded a pick for Kemba and improved by 5 games is trade the next year's first for an average veteran because "it's not going to be that valuable and Kemba's in his prime we can't wait any longer."

MKG is another defensive specialist

He can’t shoot the 3 but he doesn’t take them either

Currently shooting 49%
Career 70% free throw shooter

He’s on the block, young and cheap

I’d give up Billy for him I’m an instant

Exactly why I would try to acquire him with a package based around Willy, Lee, and a future pick. Keep Ntilikina so if he isn't a bust he can take over the reigns from Kemba when he's due for that big contract.

0% chance we get Kemba without giving up Frank

remember we passed up trading a first round pick for lowry... that was 1 trade we should of done

Correction. We didn’t trade Shump for Lowry.

Im on board with trading a 2019 or 2020 first rounder. KP is set to be a FA next off season and what if he’s tired of losing and won’t re-sign? At this point, you keep him happy as long as possible, bc he’s our Obi Wan Kenobi. I’m not giving up a first AND Frank though. He’s only 19. So like KingFoam said, he has two years with Kemba, maybe learns a few things so we don’t have to re-sign Kemba.

I'm kinda on the fence about this. There's many positives to trading for Kemba. Its no where near the Melo trade because we're not gutting our team. Something like Lance, Willy, and our 2017 first I'd be ok with.

-You get Kemba and our pick will be in the 15-19 range (which in the past has gotten some solid players but is still very meh)
-He automatically makes KP better right now. KP being the diva he is might actually resign here since we'll be a better team faster. The trade makes KP happy and that's priority #1
-He's on a very very friendly contract and when it's done Frank will be ready to take over. Because right now even though I think he should start, Frank isn't ready and we know this.

You know damn well KP ain’t turning down the 5 year max we’re gonna offer him regardless of our records
