Terribly. First time out playing my injury over a year ago. Franklin Canyon, shot a 139. Had fun though, just got super tired by the 12th.Originally Posted by dland24
Giants consider giving Sandoval some time at catcher
By Steve Gardner, USA TODAY
As fantasy owners are anxiously waiting for Albert Pujols to make enough appearances to qualify at third base, there may be an even bigger development on the horizon.
Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval, left, gives bench coach Ron Wotus a look at his fractured hand before a game last month against Oakland. Sandoval is expected to be activated off the disabled list on Tuesday.

The San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman tweets that the Giants are considering putting Pablo Sandoval behind the plate a couple times per week once he returns from the disabled list. Sandoval suffered a broken hamate bone in his right hand in late April and is currently on a rehab assignment with Class AAA Fresno. He is on track to be activated early next week.
If Kung Fu Panda catches in the five or 10 games most fantasy leagues require for eligibility at a position he didn't play last season, it would give his fantasy owners a major offensive advantage over just about every other team in the league.
The move makes sense on several levels.
First of all, it would allow the Giants more time to evaluate the future of veteran shortstop Miguel Tejada, who has subbed for Sandoval at third base as rookie Brandon Crawford has established himself as the everyday shortstop. With Tejada hitting just .223 with one homer and 17 RBI, his roster spot could be in jeopardy when Sandoval returns.
Second, it would give the Giants some offense out of the catcher position -- something they haven't had since Buster Posey's season-ending injury. How bad has it been? Entering play Friday, Giants catchers Eli Whiteside and Chris Stewart combined for a .157 average (11-for-70), one home run and three RBI.
Sandoval does have catching experience -- appearing in 11 games as a rookie in 2008 and another three the following season. However, he caught 176 games in the minors.
If Sandoval did become eligible at catcher, I can only think of a select few catchers I'd rather have the rest of the way. At the time of his injury, Sandoval was hitting .313 with five homers and 11 RBI in just 83 at-bats. His .904 OPS is almost 150 points higher than Posey's and would be second-best among catchers to the .913 from Detroit's Alex Avila.
On a team that's last in the majors in runs scored, giving Sandoval a few starts a week behind the plate is a creative solution that fantasy owners would enthusiastically support.
Interesting. I like it!!

I'll take Panda not re-injuring his hand for $500, Alex.
