Even though Isiah Thomas nixed his consultant gig with the Knicks, it sounds like he's already doing some "consulting." According to a team source that spoke with the New York Daily News, Thomas has told James Dolan that Carmelo Anthony will be a Knick next year. It's safe to say that no matter what official role Thomas has with the team, he'll always be in the news for advising the boss.
ESPN 1050 has reported that the Knicks have a trade offer in mind to get Anthony. But one side who's not talking is -- you guessed it -- the Nuggets.
After actress Eva Longoria said her husband, Spurs point guard Tony Parker, wants to play for the Knicks, ESPN NBA Insider Ric Bucher provided an un-Hollywood-like analysis (no fluff, the real deal): "The problem is that if he is going to go now, [the Spurs] would have to trade him and New York does not have anything that San Antonio wants. So if Tony wants to go to New York in particular, then he's going to have to wait until he is a free agent."
Blazers shooting guard Rudy Fernandez is feeling very moody about his future with the team. He will not report to training camp and has no intention of playing out the remaining two years of his contract. Which is all the merrier for the Knicks who, along with the Bulls, have high interest in courting him.
This weekend, Spike Lee and John Starks will celebrate the return of Golden Hoops after a 15-year hiatus. The prestigious youth basketball tournament was created by the New York Daily News in the 80s and 90s. On Saturday, 40 boys and 20 girls, representing the nation's best in high school hoops, will compete in a one-day affair in Brooklyn. Other special guests include: Kenny Smith (host), Kenny Anderson (honorary coach of the NYC team), Brevin Knight (honorary coach of the Jersey team), John Wallace (honorary coach of the Empire team) and Evan Turner (honorary coach of the Philly team). With the Boost Mobile Elite 24 moving to Venice Beach this month (for four straight years, it was held at Rucker Park), NYC can still boast a rich playground event for high schoolers.
One final note: Amar'e Stoudemire is planning to rest on the Sabbath.

at not knowing that. Yall gotta catch up on your Knicks history, homie died this year. cmon now we were wearing a #15 patch on our unis all year in his honor
and
at ESPN. whenever big star to Knicks rumors heats up ESPN + Broussard will ALWAYS downplay it without having any knowledge of it. I mean we dont have the assets, but teams like the Nets do? Cmon now
If anything i think we have the most attractiive young pieces to offer with 3 players in Gallo, AR, and Chandler that all have all-star potential in them plus we have Curry's expiring. If *%@* like that isnt attractive but some scrubs on the Nets/Bulls are or an over the hill under achiever like Vince Carter is, idk what NBA GMs are smoking. Guys like Broussard hate on the Knicks without any knowledge of our players. If guys like AR or Gallo were on the Bulls Broussard would hype them up as guys with like easy superstar potential and be making up *%@* like them for Melo straight up

yeah but if they offer Lopez with either Harris/Favors (and Lopez would HAVE to be in the deal in order for Denver to accept or else it is not even near better than the Knicks offer) and especially if they gave up draft picks as well, the team would !++%!++ suck and Melo would have no reason to resign. Remember any team who trades for melo has to have assets to trade but also enough assets on the team afterwards to get Melo to resign and keep past next summer. IMO the Nets do not have that. Theyd have to give up Lope + draft picks in order to have a shot and outside of that the Nets are absolutely garbage. The Knicks are in the same spot. We could very well just give up Amare to get Melo but the idea is to get Melo and Amare to play together in order to build a winning team and keep Melo. Getting Melo in a city he likes is only half the battle. IMO NY though WAY more than any team i can think of (especially NY) has enough young pieces that are VERY talented and expiring contracts to make a fair Melo deal possible while also having enough pieces left over to build a legit contender.
If the Nets traded for Melo they would be the Cavs of last year. Except that Melo is not as good as Lebron and even with Lebron that team never won an NBA championship and it especially would fair this year with the NBA super power Miami Heat. Melo would never resign with a garbage Nets team. The reason he threw out teams like Knicks, Magic are because not only does he like the cities (especially NY) but the fact that even after a trade he still has dominant PG/big man combos to form a legit contender with (Nelson/Howard, Felton/Amare). All those teams need is Melo as the swingman and they are title contenders. The Nets do not even have near the talent to make a title team while aquiring Melo in a trade... but of course the media never talks about that.

thats a terrible trade for the nets... they would be setting themselves back... and also would be a bad trade for melo who claims he wants to win... its not going to happen on a 12 win team especially without harris and lopez...id assume the nuggets would take those 2 if they were smart or at least lopez and favors...i have hope melo will come to the knicks but i wont get hyped up until he holds up a knicks jersey like everyone here said
