Thomas has convinced Dolan that he can deliver Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks next summer - assuming the All-Star forward doesn't sign a three -year, $65 million contract extension with Denver. With the Knicks failing to sign LeBron James last month, Dolan's faith in team president Donnie Walsh and head coach Mike D'Antoni has waned, particularly when it comes to recruiting today's young players. It is Thomas' thinking that if he can land Anthony or a player such as New Orleans point guard Chris Paul, it will enhance his tarnished image among Knicks fans and potentially clear the way for him to return to take over the club again. Dolan's telling statement last Wednesday all but guarantees Thomas playing a role. "I continue to believe in his basketball knowledge, including his ability to judge talent," Dolan said. "He's a good friend of mine and of the organization, and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team." New York Daily News
Anthony, an All-NBA second-team selection in 2009-10, has two years left on his current contract with the Nuggets but can opt out of his final season and become a free agent next summer. The New York Knicks are the team most often rumored as a future destination for the Brooklyn- born Anthony. “I’ve been hearing that for five years,

Anthony is probably better matched up guarding 3's. This kid is a FREAK.Originally Posted by blackmagnus514

Too bad Barron aint gonna be back.

Too bad Barron aint gonna be back.I remember when he played the Spurs, 1-on-1 with George Hill, picked his pocket, and ran full court for the dunk. I'm callin' it now, Anthony will be our best player in 2 to 3 years. He's a reason why I wouldn't be mad at all if don't get any other big free agents for here on out. Amare-Gallo-Randolph has STUPID potential. Jesus Mary and Joesph I think I just wet myself.

He is supposed to be this good after 2009-10, if then. That was the thing when the Warriors drafted him at No. 14 in 2008. A lot of executives saw a star quality, but the consensus was that Randolph would need at least two seasons in the NBA before the black-and-blue marks would fully heal, maybe one or two more before he would make any real contribution and then -- if he endured the years of going for a rebound only to be hip-checked into the seventh row -- have a chance to be special. He was very young (18 on draft night, 19 during his first summer league) and very, very thin (205 pounds on a 6-foot-10 frame).
It is one year later. Just one. A rival general manager watched Randolph kill in summer league -- a Vegas-best 26.8 points in four games along with 8.5 rebounds, three blocks and 60.9 percent shooting -- and said, "He is a star waiting to happen, especially in that system," meaning the shoot-'em-up Don Nelson approach. "He's shooting the ball better and putting the ball on the floor better, and that allows him to get to spots for a mid-range game. And at 6-11, and at those places on the floor, he can shoot over anyone."
