HIGHLANDS RANCH — Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony said today that he will continue pondering whether to sign a three-year, $65 million contract extension offer from the team.

Asked if he had a timetable by when he'd like to have a final decision, Anthony said, "No."

"I'm just taking my time with it," he said during his basketball camp at ThunderRidge High School. "Obviously, everybody knows I'm loyal to the Denver Nuggets community and to the Denver Nuggets. I've shown that over my seven-year stint here. I don't think anybody can question that. But at this point in time I have to do what's best for me and my family. I'm just taking my time, figuring out if I want to take that extension or not."

And without a team-imposed deadline, Anthony has all the time he could ever want. League rules say he has until June 30, 2011 to sign the extension or pick up the option on his current contract, which would pay him $18.5 million for the 2011-12 season.

So, he'll wait.

He's already said winning and a roster with the potential to win are factors. The Nuggets recently parted ways with team executives, Mark Warkentien and Rex Chapman. Anthony is being kept in the loop in the team's search for a new general manager, but he says that person won't factor into whether he signs the extension or not.

"I think my decision is my decision," Anthony said. "I don't think it's based on who is in the front office or anything like that. I'm going to make my decision based on my feelings."

What will factor heavily is progress on a new collective bargaining agreement. Anthony has attended the last two meetings, one just a few days ago in New York, where owners and players had productive dialogue.

Depending on the layout of the new CBA — if there is one by the time the current pact ends next summer — Anthony could stand to make considerably less money on a contract extension than what's currently being offered.

Right now, at least, he's willing to roll the dice.

"I've been to the one in All-Star at Dallas when we couldn't come to any agreements; it was just going back and forth," Anthony said. "Now, the one the other day in New York, we were just talking — the owners were talking, the players were talking. We want to come to an agreement. We just want to go about it the right way. There's a little bit of a light at the end of the tunnel now."

I'm hoping Moxgov can be our starting C. I don't wanna be undersized and have a 6'10 C..

Why not have a 7'1 defensive C alongside Amare, who can still score, catch alleys, block and such..

Hopefully he shows up.. Either him or Randolph, have Turiaf as a backup

I'd be shocked if Mozgov becomes a consistent starter for us this season.

Unless he really impresses and comes along quickly, I'm not counting on an unproven Russian player to handle starting C duties in the NBA.

I see Turiaf starting, but not playing 35 minutes a night, 20-25 depending on how he lasts/holds up. Then slide Amare to the C, Randolph at PF and run with that for most of the game hopefully. Ideally, Mozgov could be a great fit alongside Amare and be a legit defensive presence, but I'm not getting ahead of myself. He'll need minutes before that happens, and he'll be left out of the rotation initially.
Eva Longoria: Tony Parker longs for NY
By BRIAN LEWIS

Tony Parker's wife, actress Eva Longoria, was overheard last night saying the San Antonio point guard wants to come to the Big Apple.

The couple was at sold-out Red Bull Arena last night in Harrison, N.J., to watch their friend Thierry Henry and the Red Bulls lose 1-0 to the L.A. Galaxy.

When asked if Parker's presence meant he was coming to New York, she responded, "No, we're just here watching [Henry]." When asked if her husband wanted to come to New York, she quickly flashed a smile, nodded her head and said, "Yes."

Parker will make $13.5 million in the final season of his contract with the Spurs. He'll be an unrestricted free agent after this season.

I hope they play Amare at the 4 and Turaif at the 5....Randolph at the 4...I'm a bit iffy on that...but I'd rather have him at the 4 than at the 3 where he would get burnt by speedier players. I trust his length but i dont know how good defensively he is.

Too bad Barron aint gonna be back.
