Official 2009 NY Jets ( 9-7 ) Season Thread. Jets vs Colts 1/24 . AFC Championship !!!!

Thomas Jones will be horrible again this year. This offensive is so crappy, that's my only fear about throwing Sanchez out there. The O-Line is solid butaside from that we are thin.

I think our D is as good as advertised though.

getting beat on too may deep passes

my bad , it's only preseason

didn't work but i like rex ryan showing he got balls
pimp.gif

nice little comback but we got to do something about out receivers . we need some help .........

Right now, I'd trade every receiver we have and Thomas Jones for Brandon Marshall.

Dudes couldn't catch the clap in a Mexican ho-house.

Rex Ryan has been getting on my nerves... dude has been running his big mouth ever since he left BAL

you guys have a decent D... but your offense isn't going to scare anybody, especially if Sanchez doesn't learn the game fast. Leon Washington is a niceplayer though.

Mark Sanchez era officially opens: Jets name rookie QB as opening day starter

alg_jets_mark-sanchez.jpg

This is hardly a shocker, but the Jets have decided to name rookie Mark Sanchez as their opening-day quarterback, the Daily News confirmed Wednesday morning.

Rex Ryan, in his first big decision as coach, picked Sanchez over career backup Kellen Clemens. The only thing surprising about it was the timing, with Sanchezcoming off a mistake-filled performance Monday night in Baltimore. But the organization has known for at least 10 days that Sanchez likely would be the guy, soRyan probably figured it wouldn't be prudent to prolong the inevitable.

Some might argue it was a bit hasty, but Ryan said at the outset that he wanted to have a starter in place by the third pre-season game, Saturday night againstthe Giants. And Sanchez did end Monday night's game on an upbeat note, throwing a touchdown pass to Leon Washington -- all Ryan needed to see to close thedeal.

Ryan informed both quarterbacks Wednesday morning.
The truth is, Sanchez outplayed Clemens in camp and in the two pre-season games. Against the Rams and Ravens, Sanchez completed 50% of his passes (6-for-12)for 131 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. Clemens was 9-for14 (64%) for 84 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.

The Jets traded up in April, selecting Sanchez fifth overall. They gave him a five-year, $50 million contract, including $28 million in guarantees.

good for dirty sanchez

how do you guys expect thomas jones to do this year? how's that offensive line looking?

i honestly don't think jones will have nearly as good a year as he did last year. it's gonna be 2 yards and a cloud of dust everytime he touches theball.

he had that good a year last year because defense's had to worry about favre, they gonna be coming this year with sanchez back there.

o-line is the same as last year, hopefully d'brick finally lives up to his billing. sanchez life depends on it

for not letting this drag on unnecessarily, Rex.

Saw this on another message board, thought you guys would get a kick out of it:

First guy:

contrary to popular opinion

cutting gholston doesn't make the team any better.

Second guy:

Not true. If the scrub replacing him is capable of making a play then it makes our 53-man depth better. If you are talking cap dollars then I agree he is uncuttable in 2009. If you are talking about what he brings to the table on the field, a steaming pile of dogsh1t brings about as much as he does right now.

<edited to add>
I take that back. A steaming pile of dogsh1t might cause an offensive lineman to change direction.

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/dneagles/Teams_watching_Eagles_wide_receivers.html
At least two teams - the Ravens and the Jets - are keeping a close eye on the Eagles' wide receiver situation.

The Eagles have an excess of wealth there right now. There's a good chance they'll deal one of their wide receivers - perhaps Reggie Brown - before the final roster cutdown.

The Jets don't have much experience at the position beyond Jerricho Cotchery. The next four wideouts on their depth chart have a total of 92 career receptions.

The Ravens, coached by former Eagles assistant John Harbaugh, also need help there. Aside from starters Derrick Mason, who had to be coaxed out of retirement, and Mark Clayton, they don't have much. Right now, their No. 3 wideout is Demetrius Williams, who has just 55 catches in 3 NFL seasons. After him, bubkis.
ohwell.gif
...... At least he'll come for cheap (4th/5th round pick MAX)

if we're gonna get anyone i'd rather get marshall. might as well get the best available .........

But Marshall isn't available....

I held out hope he would get traded too, but Denver seems hell bent on keeping their best remaining weapon.

Trading Cutler set Denver back 5+ years... Trading away Marshall, at this point, would be astronomically dumb.

Reggie Brown would not make our WRs better... He regressed last year. Got hurt and couldn't beat our ANYONE on that Eagle's roster. I would muchrather go with people that Sanchez is used to with Stuckey as our No.2 ad Clowney being our No.3. We need a No.1 wideout. We shouldn't be stockpiling2's and 3's.

i thought marshall wanted out and they were willing to deal him. i havent really kept up with that situation so i thought he was available .

i just wanna strike gold , whats the chances of getting ocho cinco
