They sell out every night but its not impossible to get tickets

Blackhawks are going to be even more fun to watch next season. The deal is too long (it's really an 8 yr deal, Hossa only makes less than $1 mill/season inthe last 4 yrs) and there's no way Hossa finishes out the contract with Chicago. In the meantime (next 2-4 yrs) he'll be a very good player for them.

He's a lucky son of a gun...he didn't lose out on any money after turning down all those offers in the $50-$70 million range last summer.

I'm very impressed with the contracts given to the Sedins...very good deal for the Canucks...paying $6 milliion for each guy is very reasonable and you caneven say that they are under-paid. At the end of the day I think those guys were comfortable in Vancouver and they want to give the team a chance to win foryears to come. I think they could've each gotten more money if they signed with another team.

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed star winger Marian Hossa to a 12-year deal.

Sources tell ESPN.com the deal is worth $62.8 million over -- an average of $5.233 million a year.

Hossa was one of two Detroit Red Wings to join the Blackhawks on Wednesday, as the team also signed center Tomas Kopecky to a two-year contract that will pay him $1.2 million per season.

"To add Marian, an elite and world-class player, and Tomas, a Stanley Cup champion, to our exciting young core reinforces our commitment to try to win the Stanley Cup," Blackhawks GM Dale Tallon said in a news release.

The Blackhawks, who made a run to last season's conference finals, were also hoping to re-sign last year's leading scorer, free agent Martin Havlat.

Once contract talks broke up with Havlat, the Blackhawks quickly turned their attention to Hossa, who has bolted the Red Wings after one season.

The Wings and Hossa were negotiating to the end but couldn't come to an agreement. Havlat and the Blackhawks had been talks throughout the season and were close on a long-term deal but never finished it off. The Hawks only offered Havlat a one-year deal over the past week.

After landing with the Red Wings last offseason, Hossa, a four-time All-Star, posted 40 goals and 71 points in 74 regular-season games. But he struggled through the postseason with 15 points in 23 games and was held without a goal during the Stanley Cup finals.

Hossa is a strong two-way forward, but was a complementary piece in Detroit behind marquee players Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom. In 775 career games he has 339 goals and 380 assists. A 1997 draft choice of the Ottawa Senators, he has also played for the Atlanta Thrashers and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Kopecky had six goals and 13 assists in 79 regular season games for the Red Wings last season, his fourth with the team.

12 years though? Come on. He'll be 40 and stillgetting $5mil per?

Damn, Hawks are gonna be good and entertaining to watch. I can see a rematch of the WCF between CHI and DET.

^ Or I can see Hossa disappearing in the spotlight of the playoffs again. Only time will tell.

His first mistake was not taking the 10 year offer from the Pens.
