Considering Cleveland willingly took them, I think we could've gotten a late first. Aside from that....yeah they weren't really gonna bring us anything beyond that.

We didnt really get donuts for JR and Shump. We traded Shump (who we were never gonna resign in the offseason anyway) to trade cancer JR (who would almost certainly have accepted his player option to stay in NY). The move created salary cap space, got rid of a locker room cancer who had to go, and in the process helped us tank for KP.

And honestly, Lance Thomas might even have more league-wide value than JR or Shump right now and we got him in the deal. He basically became the 3 and D player this season we kept begging Shump to become. Wouldnt be surprised if we resign him this summer and he becomes a key role player for us moving forward who is a hard worker and great in the locker room. JR and Shump were none of those things.

All things considered, Id say we made off pretty well in that deal. But again you actually have to consider all things. You cant just look at it from a talent perspective.
