^^^^Completely agree with that. Even winning the conference means nothing. The gap between the NBA champion and the runner up is astronomical. Nobody remembers the runner up. At the end of each season, only 1 team is happy.

Yeah that's true of course, but there is also some value to having a good team for a long time even if they don't win a ring. I mean I guarantee Suns and Mavs fans are obviously disappointed they never won, but they'll probably look back on the 2000s and be happy considering how many good times those teams gave them. Of course you want to win a ring no matter what, and just coming close isn't going to win you any arguments if you want to go around %$#$—talking other fans, but I think any real fan of a team can appreciate watching those guys play well together for an extended period of time whether or not they go all the way.Originally Posted by UPPTEMPO8387
Everyone is free to feel how they want but in MY opinion, deep playoff runs don't mean $*$% if you never win a ring. A player can be a legend without a ring bc a great team will beat a great player 85% of the time. But f a team that can't get over the hump n win a title. Were the 90s Knicks better than the Bulls that won 6 rings? Hell no. Better than the Rockets that won twice? Definitely not. So it's not like those Knicks teams lost bc they got robbed. They just didn't have the pieces needed for a ring. We're all young guys in here so we say "I'll still be satisfied with a team that makes deep runs but no ring" bc in your mind they can still eventually win one. But if you're a 45 year old man that hasn't seen a championship with his own eye, you wanna see a team win a title. Nobody plays for 2nd/3rd/4th place. If that's what a player wants, I don't want them here

That must be the one reserved for Michael Kay.
