**Official '11 NYK LOCKOUT thread*** lockout over

Our center position has always been a problem for the Knicks, when we always draft big we always get rid of em, Jeffries is a bum and turiaf is exceeding my expectations. In the off season we need a dominant center last one was either camby or Ewing lol

Although I've been reading about AR's attitude problems and not really trying in practice I have to say that I don't believe Pringles gave him a fair shake. Everyone was gushing over his potential when he came and although he got hurt I feel Pringles never gave him a fair shot. Although he played like trash when he saw the court it seemed like he was always nervous, probably was trying to prove something to Pringles. The arguments for and against AR are completely valid.

My main question would be why didn't Pringles ever give him the chance to make mistakes, he's such a player friendly coach supposedly and everyone knows about AR's talent, why didn't it pan out?

the flip side though

With AR's skill set, he seemed destined to shine in Pringles system, leaving aside what we heard (attitude & motor), why was he never able to grasp it? Yes, he never had the chance, but with his strengths you'd think that it'd be pretty obvious in day 1 of practice that Pringles should have seen the potential with this kid, clearly he felt otherwise.

I felt AR should have gotten the chance cause I still think he could turn out to be a nice player, but we'll see. Even if he flames out it wouldn't really surprise me but time will tell with a kid like this.

still dont know why we didn't go after earl instead of jeffries or that other guy we signed off waivers... forget his name since he never plays

RuffRyda pringles didn't give him a chance to make mistakes because he didn't care about developing players. He only cared about winning games. Short term it's good, long term not so good.

He had a quote saying something along the lines of he doesn't want to develop players because then he won't be around when they are good.

I understand the gutting of the roster. But the problem is he is making the same mistakes for the last 3 years. He isn't going to magically change. Steve Nash was Payton Manning. Pringles went along for the ride. We just have to accept it

Pringles is talking defense on the Mike D'Antoni show right now

If he doesn't care about developing players explain Mozgov...... Not that it matters. We shouldn't be looking to develop players in a season we're focused on making it to the playoffs.

If AR was making himself nervous or trying to prove something while adding all that extra pressure and those were his results he's just soft.

What are you talking about?  I guess D'antoni didn't want to develop players and that's why he made young guys like Gallinari, Chandler, Fields, and Douglas the centerpieces of the team...  That's why he was starting to give Mozgov more minutes.  But no, you're right, it's not like any of those guys got better under D'antoni

I forgot Fields was a rookie

If that was 100% true Chandler would've been starting instead of Fields.

EDIT

Pringles admits he yells at Toney the most. They have an understanding

Everybody else gets screamed at during practice. Should've been watching this show all season.

1. Mozgov was the only real center on the team.
2. Let's not act like he has done anything of any substance outside of that 30 point game.

That don't mean he has to play him. He proved that when we were winning all those games with Amar'e playing 35+ minutes. We all know he has no problem playing Shawne at the 5. So if Pringles really isn't about developing players why did Moz get any extended play? Dude obviously saw some potential in him to be somewhat effective at the time.

That's my exact point though. If Moz aint shh and Pringles benches you for months for a mistake then why did Moz still get play after the long benching? I mean he wasn't playing great but his height alone had an effect in the paint. That 30 pt game was his standout game but I aint gonna pretend in the other games he didn't do some good things.

As far as bench players go I'm not going to pretend I know what goes on in practice. There's reasons why Fields has been starting, why Moz got a 2nd chance, and why dudes like Walker and Rautins don't get a lot of play and why AR is no longer on the team.

Bottom line Anthony Randolph was acting like a lil $+@%+ while he was here and Pringles didn't play him.

I just don't understand us dealing with Minnesota at all.

Denver got Koufos who plays less than Mozgov, who doesn't play.
We didn't get a pick to send to Denver from them.

We waived the guy they gave us, instead of sending him to Denver to keep one of the players we did trade. We didn't play AR, but he had a lot of potential.

And then we pick up a new guy with some 'potential' who we basically kidnapped from his old team, just to not play him...the same as Brewer who we waived, because it was the nice thing to do since we weren't gonna play him.

It's just weird to me.
LeBron Empathizes With Melo, Knicks
For LeBron James, the signs are all familiar.

The initial discomfort in a new system. The frustrating losses. The growing pains. The private bickering, questioning and second-guessing. The attitude issues. Even the turbulence during particularly heated timeouts.

James knows that script all too well. He's lived it during the honeymoon period with the Miami Heat, the one that sent the team into a brief stretch of disarray following a difficult 9-8 start.

The Heat have been there. The New York Knicks are there now.

"I know exactly what he's going through right now," James said of his friend Carmelo Anthony's more-difficult-than-expected indoctrination with the Knicks. "And it's going to take time. Everybody knows we were 9-8. We had to figure things out. And we're still figuring things out. Once they figure it out, it'll be fine."

if he didn't play gallo, chandler, and douglas who the hell was going to play on the team? Felton gonna play every minute? douglas was the only other PG of course he had to play him

He didn't play Mozgov until the injury. And he never would have

BTW he didn't play the youngns much until everyone left the team. He decided to play Harrington Hughes and a bunch of other players we all KNEW would not be here.

Nobody remembers that?

Randolph has more potential than fields but he would have to play through mistakes. Fields has a lower ceiling but was game ready. You really gonna tell me Fields is good because of pringles wonderful mentoring?

Injury of who? Turiaf? Moz was the starting center at the beginning of the season.

No. The only reason Fields got playing time is because he's good and probably showed that in practice as well as in the game.

moz was taken out of the lineup after a few bad games. Then Turiaf got injured and he put him back in the lineup out of necessity. He didn't have a choice

can we get a wiiiin
