**Official '11 NYK LOCKOUT thread*** lockout over

All season this team has competed hard against the better quality teams (With the exception of a few bombs against Dallas/Lakers, etc) so tonight's game and the game against Orlando will be more of a measuring stick as to where this team is at currently..The first time we played Boston we would have won if there was .2 seconds more on the clock, and this was w/o Melo..Against the Magic we blew a 4th quarter lead so if this team comes out looking for revenge, that will show the true heart this team has..If they come out flat against both teams and lose, that will show this team doesn't have the toughness needed in the playoffs.

One thing that I think is rarely mentioned is the fact that the majority of their games have come on back to back nights..That means they rarely get any practice time together..When you're playing 4-5 games a week, that doesn't give u much time to build a chemistry outside of games, let alone give u any time to relax n rest your body.

People often overlook the fact that Miami was 9-8 to start the season and they have two of the top 5 players in the entire league..And this team is garbage because they're 7-8? The media likes to slurp up Lebron so they said "Give it time" when his squad was in a slump but when the Knicks slump everyone says they suck because people just like to hate on NYC..When we had Gallo/Chandler/Felton the media said Felton won't last a whole season playing all these minutes, Chandler is inconsistent, and Gallo has hit his peak potential..Now because they're in Denver, ESPN treats these dudes like they're the supporting cast of the 2010 NBA Champions

Have you seen Houston this year? They play the same way, they've basically thrown defense out the window for the most part and have been outscoring teams all year. It's his fault he couldn't make in game adjustments in his time with the Kings and had some bad rotations/kept players in longer than they probably should have. The same exact things D'Antoni is getting killed for.

Kings got robbed for one game and still ended up choking away the series multiple times, that can't be a crutch for Adelman's failures or else you HAVE to use the Horry/Nash incident as a crutch for D'Antoni's era in Phoenix. Most of you don't do that with D'Antoni.

It comes to a point where the onus can not keep falling on D'Antoni and we as fans MUST realize that the players are a bigger part of the problem as well. If there is no effort on the defensive side it doesn't matter who is coaching.

But like I said, this is only 16 games into the planned roster they sought out from the start of this little Walsh/D'Antoni era you should not be judging them off of this and become a Debbie Downer. If you do, you're no better than a bandwagoner.

That's just how it's going to be the rest of the year. When the shots are dropping the defensive effort will be there, but when the shots are not it will be tough to watch.

That's why we just have to hope the offense clicks in time, otherwise it will be a strong effort in the first round but a quick exit vs the top East teams.

Bruce Pearl just got fired so if we lose to Boston tonight I wouldn't be surprised to hear that name pop up in here.

After Wednesday we have a this schedule:

vs. Bucks
@ Bobcats
vs. Magic
vs. Nets
vs. Cavs
vs. Raptors
@ 76ers
@ Nets
@ Pacers
vs. Bulls
@ Celtics

They'll be fine.

I don't consider any of these games "easy".

what the hell is an easy game?

we lost to Cleveland twice, pacers twice, detroit, bucks.

it really doesn't matter who we face.

Pro will you at least admit that Dantoni should get a proper defensive assistant next year? Why continue the Nepotism?

Definitely Dub, I've been saying that for a while now. He has to swallow his pride and get a coach who isn't just a figurehead/"yes" man like his brother. That would go a ways. So would a big man. My main point is that it's still relatively early in the D'Antoni/Walsh era, they've finally got the roster to somewhere near where they wanted it so let's see how it goes from here.

Mez, wasn't saying any of em were easy but I do think they'll pull it together a little bit during that stretch. Nets, Cavs, Raptors at home you gotta think they'll try and get some momentum there towards the playoffs.

I would hope so, otherwise I won't have much confidence in them doing anything.

Word what the !$!% is wrong with some of you guys?  Y'all need to chill the !$!% out and take step back.  Go watch another sport for a while, Jesus.  Yea miss the playoffs because that'll get D'Antoni fired.  You do realize that this is basically his first year with the team they envisioned when he first came?  You think Donnie is just going to kill the plan after this season and start anew with a different coach?  And you want to bring in Adelman???  A coach who has CHOKED in big games his entire career?  Relax, take a pill or hit a blunt and chill the !$!% out.  You guys gotta be the most emotional folks I've ever seen

That's my fault. I should have just said "Bring in _______ to coach" or "Fire ______" or "Trade/cut _______" or I should have concocted a trade scenario. My bad. That's what happens when you try to calm down emotional dudes.

I think a great defensive minded assistant and a great offensive mind like D'antoni would give everyone some serious problems.

I'm still not sure who I would like to come in but we definitely need that presence,

yall wildin vouching to miss the playoffs.

What ever happened to earl barron?

BTW regular season carries into the playoffs in terms of chemistry etc. we have a short time to get it together. We dont wanna be in the playoffs gettin bumped in a 4 game sweep gettin smacked by 20+ each game.
So regular season does matter, and not to mention our positioning to go up against a team that we may have a standing chance to go up against.

I say we try and trade Amar'e for a bunch of role players to complement Carmelo.
Also, absolutely right on firing D'Antoni. Possibly try and bring back Hubie Brown or Knicks great Red Holzman. Unless of course Phil Jackson wants to coach here, because he is the Zen Master and will forever be enshrined in the basketball Mount Rushmore if he wins a title here. This is all of course only if Mark Jackson turns down the job, because his resume of zero coaching experience is exactly what we need, fresh blood!
Somehow we need to try and hire Bruce Bowen, Anthony Mason & Charles Oakley as assistant coaches to teach defense to these guys. Try and trade Chauncey Billups for Raja Bell so he can be our floor general on defense. Can't trade Landry. He is our rookie sensation who has the ceiling of Stacy Augmon. You need that glue guy who does everything well!!
As far as 'Melo, he's suitable for now, but I'm pretty sure if we start clearing cap space starting next year, we can sign LeBron (I know that plan didn't work at first) after he opts out to play here! And he can play alongside Dwight Howard, who looks like he's desperate to play under the bright lights of MSG.

BUT! God forbid Dwight signs else (L.A.?), we can sign the second best Center in the league, Earl Barron. I mean the guy is a stud. Nevermind that no NBA team will sign him for more than 20-days. The guy looks like he is a straight beast. And under the guidance of rookie coach Mark Jackson, who has taught absolutely no one in his empty coaching career, he's destined to be the Defensive Player of the Year for at least 3 straight seasons.

It was a bad weekend for the Nuggets and Knicks. But it was much worse for New York, which thinks of itself as too talented to lose consecutive road games to the Pistons and Bucks, the latter of which included one of the worst first quarters you’ll see an NBA team play this season. Denver also dropped two road games, but competitive losses in the dreaded Orlando-Miami back-to-back are more an expected outcome than a sign of fundamental problems, even if both games exposed what good, quick defensive teams can do against an offense that no longer has a reliable go-to threat.

And, of course, Carmelo Anthony pouted. He sulked in Detroit when his teammates didn’t pass him the ball, even on possessions when the Knicks scored easily, according to Newsday‘s Alan Hahn. He looked uninterested in at least one team huddle, and his general frustrations led Amar’e Stoudemire to call for a renewed commitment to Mike D’Antoni’s fast-paced, pick-and-roll-heavy brand of offense. Stoudemire said certain unnamed players weren’t “buying into

Man I most def will not be rooting for the Knicks NOT to make the playoffs but I was just trying to say that is the fastest way to Mike getting fired.

Bottom line is this team will not be a championship contender with the current coach. There is no one that can dispute that. You know why? Cause the two best players on the squad who are superstar scorers, are some of the worst defenders in the whole L! Did ya'll see Amare on Sunday with his back to his #%+$+@# man under the basket, who proceeded to yam it on his late effort to block the shot? Thats disgusting. And the current coach has not and will not make anyone but Toney Douglas own up to their mistakes on the court. No championship will be even sniffed with that man as head coach. Not only that, but you got his #%+$+@# brother as an assistant along with Herb Williams who brings nothing to the table but his long tenure.

This sucker 'Antoni denied Tom Thibodeau as an assistant head coach in Phoenix...I'd put up some of my own damn money to be able to hire a coach like Tom.

Marc Berman

Earl Baron is officially a free agent. Again, Walsh likes him. D'antoni unsure if he'd play him. Sort of like Derrick Brown.

What a shocker, Mike doesn't want to play a center who isn't an offensive threat. I guess he is too in love with the defensive specialist who happens to suck on both ends of the floor

Jarron Collins was also let go by the Blazers. How is he?

seriously though, whats the difference between a 45 win team and a 2nd round exit and a 60 win team and a 2nd round exit? Nothing.

Thats why i dont take teams like the magic, mavs, past year jazz, etc teams to seriously. Teams are judged the way they play in the playoffs. We'll see where we are and what kind of identity this team truly has in the playoffs.
