Come on now.... I agree that Jr shouldn't have even gestured at that untying motion again....

But you can hear someone say "untie his shoe! " in the crowd. And it was only then he did that.... Obviously as a joke to entertain the people.

He is on a short leash but come on. Have some humor.

He wouldn't be dumb enough to really try that the very next game. .... I hope.

You sound like Mike Woodson, smh when is someone going to hold this man accountable for his actions? :{

$50K is excessive. They are treating it as if he threw a punch. For something that had zero effect on the person.

I myself do hold him accountable, like I said he shouldn't have made that gesture again. Silly move since eyes are all on him. But I stand by $50k being overly excessive.

Is there any way to find out how many fines were given within the last 2-3 years and what the reasons were for them and how much?

Curious to see where $50k stands up with the rest of the fines in the past 2-3 years.

Vince Cellini  @Vince_Cellini

Undaunted by his 50k fine, @JR Smith  will now move on to "wet willie", "wedgie", and "made you look" pranks.

50K Fines:

-JKidd spilling drink on floor

-Sanders for cursing and criticizing refs

-Cuban tweeting/criticizing refs

-Stat tweeting gay slur

-Jay-Z for being in Kentucky locker room during the tournament

Right now as it stands Earl should be traded, the team seems to be turning the corner, at least showing signs, these immature antics are necessary. Take your fine, shut your mouth, and keep it pushin'. You've played enough pranks on us by tricking us into thinking you were worth keeping and could play consistently. Just trade him next Wednesday. Let us upgrade like Earl was a cell phone.

pretty wild statistic.  the bias woodson shows in favor of jr despite his negative contribution on and off the court makes me cringe

he deserves to be punished, but the fine is waaaay excessive for any player. just thinking about the luxury the league has to fine its players that much over something like this makes me feel disgusted

jr needs to pack his bags and go though. i was his biggest supporter last season, but he's just been a detriment to the team. he may add to the chemistry to the team, as he seems to get along with his (younger) teammates pretty well, but he's  taken a lot more from the team than he's added to it this season all while being fairly defiant & smug  about it

The only way to stop J.R. from getting playing time is to hook him up with one of Woodson's daughter.

But they didn't fine him for making the gesture again, they fined him for originally untying Marion's shoelace in Dallas. It would be excessive if he was never in trouble before.

yeah let's

1) cut udrih,

2) get bynum (and ride him out til the end of the season)

3) trade jr for someone out west (maybe the lakers would be interested. jordan hill?)

He wasn't fined for marion though. He was only warned about that one.

Ok you're right my apologies, but that makes it even worst. You get warned by your boss and two days later mock the same action, why are being provoking? He has to learn how to be a adult and is deserving of the fine.

Trading JR and somehow ending up with Bynum is such a sideways move :lol

We probably wouldn't even have to deal with on the court antics. Son probably just wouldn't show up to games or practice but we steady seeing IG pics of him @ various NYC banks and vids of him dancing in da club with ninjahood.

I wrote about it being time to trade JR on Monday before teams realize last season was an aberration. He's gotta go while he has value.

yeah i thought about this, but he did play while with the cavaliers and was starting to do a few things here and there before he got suspended. while proving to not be too passionate about the game of basketball, he supposedly got booted for sleeping with some coach's wife rather than because he didn't want to play

like right now we got a guy who plays, but is a net negative to the team in so many ways. it would only be til the end of the season if the knicks could somehow pull it off

@IanBegley: Story going online now w/@ESPNSteinLine & I: Sources say #Knicks, challenging as it sounds, have started exploring J.R. Smith trade options.

:eek

it's the right thing to do at the right moment. glad they've come to their senses

It upsets me that we're looking into trading JR, because we've finally come to this level of frustration with him.

When JR is on his game and plays motivated basketball, he could be a HUGE help for any basketball team. The guy just never learned how to mature.

Watch us trade JR and see him do very well in whatever team he ends up in.

i'd legit dump him for a second rounder just to get his salary off the books and pick up any vet guard that's available with professionalism/an ounce of leadership which we're lacking desperately on this roster (Rip Hamilton)

the second rounder thing prob wouldnt work at this point in the season though cuz i highly doubt any team has cap space for him, just saying I would do it. knowing how things will work out, teams will try swindling picks out of us to dump his salary for an expiring.
