NYC IS DEAD Vol. Post Covid - NY Post Article gets response from Seinfeld, Now counter response from Author

the grass def isn't always greener on the other side. there are a lot of things I took for granted and its harder to move back than it is to move down south (and the Midwest/West I guess).
the culture/vibe and ease of obtaining/finding things is definitely at the top of my list.
being yourself and that being ok is another.
transit options are another.
obviously family and friends.
the people.
the job market is better...more opportunities to move up and less petty reasons ppl in power hold ppl back.
etc. etc.

NYC lost its sex appeal as soon as it became too commercial. It became more about entertaining tourists, more than cultivating a lifestyle identified through the city and its inhabitants. For NY’ers like myself, those born and raised here, that became tiresome. Authentic NYC became hard to come by, as Greenwich Village was even effected by the move to become tourist friendly. Where you had some serious one off spots to eat, hang out , then simply chillin’ with people who knew what was cool, all had to close due to the more commercial spots popping up, drawing what would be considered squares looking for a taste of supposed city life. When a place loses its authenticity, it loses its sex appeal. However, with a financial downturn, the authentic NYC will return. People seem to not know that Hip Hop was created during the worse financial era, in the history of the city. Last I looked, there were no tourists there to see it happen either.

As much as the rise of commercialism and corporations rising in NYC took away from New York's "cool" factor, I also blame technology. Back in the day, in trendy cities like NYC, LA, Miami, Austin, etc you often found out about what was poppin based off word of mouth.

If you wanted some good Thai food you'd ask your boy in Brooklyn and he'd tell you a dope local spot. Now with Yelp, Timeout, etc you just gotta type in the food you want and the underground place you'd eat at is now crazy hyped and there's a 40 minute wait to order.

Yeah, I’m hip. I’ve been enjoying some authenticity in Flatbush, Caribbean style, but that is about to change as well. It seems that they are attempting to drive property values down on area’s near Church ave, by not picking up the trash, with the Dept. leaving it on the corners. Filthy is too kind of word for what I am seeing, as even Flatbush extension, in front of Brooklyn College is effected by this. Trash everywhere. However, Midtown is damned near pristine.

They've already driven out a good portion of the Caribbean populace in the Flatbush/East Flatbush region. They've been buying detached homes, tearing them down and making these overshadowing apartment buildings blocking out neighboring houses views like what they've done all along linden and other parts of East Flatbush.

I saw that the other day. But for food, it is still the only place I can get real Trini, Haitian, Jamaican, grub. As soon as a Starbucks gets there? It will be over.

why r u holding on to the east coast west coast "beef"?

They gonna have to gentrify Flatbush before they put a starbucks there

Literally only know of the one downtown and the one way up Flatbush going to Kings Plaza.

They also have one in the cut by Brooklyn College and a few of them in Downtown Brooklyn

**** this guy

He's a racist POS who used to own La Marina and head the taxi cab commission

His establishments are notoriously known for treating blacks like **** and being racially insensitive

Man's used to preach he didn't believe in racism then the gentrifiers came and took his liquor license

Now everyone is racist against Hispanics

Straight opportunist who's now getting a taste of his own medicine

**** this herb and shout out to that brother

Yeah, that joint in Target. Once they get a brick and mortar spot, it may drive the rent ls up all over the area they wind up in.

everything you said is facts. Hes a clown and a major opportunist. Made it a race thing when he ran the TLC and cabbies was getting stuck up.
Same
With his establishments. Witnessed my own homies get turned away or treated different because they was black. Black doctors and software engineers at that.

Hes mad corrupt also. Paid m’s to make **** go away with the city. Until his employees starting running cc scams, fake liquor scams, and pushing drugs at his spots.

Crime rates going crazy got ppl up there talking shootings in broad day light .
can’t recall the last time I heard that happening

citizen app be blowing up. Just now within moments a person got stabbed and a woman got punched in the mouth.

It’s funny I got so many call backs from wash heights and Harlem to view apartments and all before I barely got 1. They catered so much to out of town whjte folks and they call left.
