IMO it's easy to top tropical freeze

No backpack partners
Diddy and Dixie play like they play in dkc2
Dk moves like he does in dkc
Add kremlings
No restrictive button mapping

I've honestly never played dkc64 tho so I have no idea what I may have missed out on with a 3d dk game. I can't even really imagine an open world dkc. I wouldnt mind seeing it tho

I just start off thinking and using Mario 64 as a template for imagining any 2D games as 3D. For DK probably a bit better to think Banjo-Kazooie and Crash Bandicoot to an extent.

I think it’d be great if done right.

I think I’d prefer a 2d game but I won’t be upset with a 3D collectathon

I'd personally want them to take a swing at 3D again for DK................if Mario 64 can be reimagined into something like Odyssey in the modern day, then the "polarizing" DK64 can be reborn into something better in the Odyssey-esque way of 3D platforming as well

Not open world like Horizon or The Witcher. It would probably more in line with something like Super Mario 64 or Odyssey.

Nsmb ds
Sm3dl
Dkc returns
Yoshis wooly world
Mario galaxy 2

And a smbw demo

I know they won't but mario maker 2 needed more dlc bad. Wish we could get more tools.

I just started running through mario 64 again in mario 3d allstars. I'm at 49 stars. I forgot how difficult this game can be due to the camera lol. How did kid me get 120 stars?!

Thinking about it, I’d rather wait for Switch 2 for a new DK and 3D Mario game. There’s some heat dropping for sure but I really don’t want to buy anything for Switch 1 at this point.
