there is no OG 98-99 release from the purples, they are an unreleased OG cw that got retroed

The Volt purples were never released during the OG Air Max Plus run. I do agree the 2018 Sunsets are closer to the OG than the 2024.

That’s a good point, if they had a black toe cap I’d be turned off much more compared to anything by with the midsole
The toe cap really can make/break a pair A LOT

Went to my mall tonight in L.A. and no stores had them. Finally caved and just ordered a pair from NDC. Rakuten at 10% so better than nothing. Should’ve grabbed them earlier in the week when it was at 15 percent but I was trying to hold strong. Just finally said f it
I picked up the ‘18 retro so many times in stores and for some reason never bought them. Always wished I had after they dried up. Looking forward to finally having these. I’m not really even bothered by the fade to more yellow even though I know it makes these different than the OG or previous retros. Easy enough to send them back if I don’t like it in person.

I got my 2 pairs of tigers in yesterday and as others have said it’s a different shoe kinda. More yellow which is ok imo but the orange is not vivid enough. The contrast is off. I like that the 3m accents are black like the og’s and not silver. More comfy than the 18 bricks. Still gonna get multiple pairs of the hyper blues but not really as excited for them after getting these.

These are on a good sale on FTL. I don't think I can pull em off so Im passing, but for anybody still on the fence or contemplating them, I saw a dude in a lineup-release for a different shoe wearing them, and they look good on foot. You recognize they are amps but don't recognize the colorway, then the gradient purple hits in the sun and they look fly AF.
Definitely worth a pickup at $130 or so

Great looking out. Ordered a pair even though I received my NDC pair last night. May keep both or return to NDC. Probably will keep.
I put them straight on when they arrived last night. Love 'em. I know it's sacrilege in here to a lot of people but the "sunset" fade to yellow actually appeals to my eyes more than the OG-correct "tiger" all-orange look. But I appreciate why people are bent about it, as usually I'm an OG stickler for retros.
These are pretty darn comfortable, too. Definitely not bricks underfoot. I can't believe this is the first time I've ever bought a pair of AMPs in all these years. Probably won't be my last. The fact I never had a pair before is probably why the difference in the colors doesn't bother me, as it's one of the rare retro models I own that I didn't ever have originally, so I don't have any previous memories or bonding with the shoe to look back on LOL

I had a pair of the Hyper Royals in 99 in high school. In 2018, my wife bought this pair for Christmas. Im definitely waiting for a similar pair to release soon. As far as the sunsets, they are pretty dope nonetheless.
