Trade Thoughts
Catchers:
1. Shea Langeliers (Have 2 seasons in Arbitration after this)
2. Hunter Goodman (Have 3 seasons in Arbitration after this)
3. Ryan Goodman (Free Agent after the season)
4. Adley Rutschman (Meh)
Outfielders
1. Byron Buxton (You know... If the Twins want to trade him. I'm in)
-They want a RH bat. My guess is that means Schumann is moved somewhere.
Starting Pitching:
1. Tarik Skubal (I don't know if he's still getting traded honestly, but wouldn't be surprised either. Don't really think it's necessary unless it is Skubal).
Relief PItching:
1. Mason Miller
Need a 7th or 8th inning guy. And another reliable arm.
Guys getting traded out
1. Camilo Doval (They will trade him for essentially to Get out. He's making $6mil this year, need to get some money out because they'll be adding at least 3 new guys on the major league roster).
2. Jake Bird (If they add 2 guys in the pen... It'll be Bednar, Cruz, Headrick, Hill, Blackburn, the 2 new guys, and as many as 3 SPs who are in the pen for the playoffs. And Yarbrough too are all ahead of him)
3. JC Escarra or Ali Sanchez - If they get a MLB level catcher, they're odd men out, one has to go.
4. Ryan Yarbrough (Numbers game. He's not terrible, but if they make trades for bullpen guys, he's at the bottom of the pecking order once Doval and Bird are moved),
My guess for the deadline:
-A catcher
-2 Relief Pitchers
-Clear out Doval, Bird, Escarra
Long-term roster construction:
C - As long as they don't get Jeffers or Rutschman, it'll be Langeliers or Goodman with Wells as the backup, and they'll clear out most likely Escarra.
1B - Rice
2B - Jazz will get a new deal. Could be proven wrong, but I think the FO genuinely dislikes Arraez's fit.
3B - I think the Yankees start looking at a long term 3B answer. McMahon likely becomes the backup 3B / 1B as Goldschmidt either retires or returns to the NL.
SS - Lombard (Volpe gets traded in the off-season)
LF - Bellinger
CF / RF - I believe Yankees will try to look for a long term CF answer, specifically a Right Handed Bat. I believe Spencer Jones will be traded either in the next week or in the off-season
Judge will begin his descent to full-time DH over the next couple of years.
I think they try to get Grisham at half the cost for a couple of seasons, and he'll be the 4th OFer.
Martian is probably gone too in the off-season if Grisham is the 4th OFer.
DH - Giancarlo gets his last year next year. I do think there's a small chance he's around for 2028. Has a $10mil buyout, and Marlins owe $10mil to Yankees. Yankees could essentially buy him out for free, and then see if he wants to come back for the minimum if he would like. A la Brett Gardner a few years ago. If Yankees cut him lose in 2028, no team is picking him up for more than a minimum deal. 2027 will be Judge at DH a few times a week. 2028 will be like 80% DH. 2029 will be full-time DH.
Off-season guess:
There will be a huge trade somewhere 3B, OF, SP. One of those 3.
