NEW YORK METS 2010 SEASON POST: Collins named New Manager

I can't even complain about the pitching because they've alright the first time through (especially Pelf and Neise).

Offense will just be inconsistent if Franc is the only one who's hot. Hopefully Reyes gets it going after a few games.

We're not finishing in last place because Big Pelf and Shniese will win 25-30 games between them.  I have us pegged third, however, behind the Phillies and Braves. That is, unless the Marlins add a reliever or two and learn how to play defense.

Yeah, I'm not feeling good about this team or this season at all.

Of course, it's very early.

But the vibe is just terrible right now.

Its easy to be down when nobody is on any hot streak cept for Franc.

But knowing our luckjy, once Reyes and Bay get it going, the pen will start to blow some games here and there.

This road trip is going to be rough

.  6 games with Johan pitching once.

Maine's got nothing left in his arm. It's time to send Meija down to the minors and see if he can hang as a starter this year. If not, give Pedro a call.

Thank God I wasn't around to witness that. Checked ESPN.com on my way home and just laughed.

.... i love when things like this happen... Management got dogged all winter by "analysts", fans and former players alike for not suring up the staff and now its blowing up in their faces early in the season.... cheer up guys... this only means that theyll HAVE to make moves now to keep their jobs.

Yes, it's 7 games in. Yes, it's early. Yes, we are not going much of anywhere this year. Our rotation doesn't have enough consistency to put up a solid winning streak. If Omar really thought that our pitching issues were enough to solve in house, then he deserves to be fired unless something miraculous happens(making the playoffs).

This whole team is just flawed...Mismatching pieces. Worst thing would be to try to hang on and think we could salvage it.  Our year was '06 and we blew it.  Once Reyes start's playing well and gets his stock up, ship him off, same with Beltran.  Only guy that should remain is David, rest of these dudes can leave.   It would be better for the organazation and for their career's.  This team is just so unlikeable and stale.

Not much to say, only positives have been Wright and Franc in the offense,
others like Bay and Reyes will eventually get it going. The pen has been solid
again (except for that one inning with the bases loaded walk).

But pithing pitching pitching.....I like Maine but he is healthy and only hitting 89mph.
His fastball is normally 94-96 and rising, he is going to keep getting raked.

This will be the season where people will lose jobs, Ike Davis will probably be called
up if Murph comes back and slumps. I only look foward to Santana, Pelf,
and Neise starts......Maine is not the same (and he is not even old yet) and Ollie
is just a ******. I can see Misch taking a spot very soon.

The offense is off to a slow start but everything balances out over the course
of 162 games. Mejia needs to be sent back down to start all season so he can
compete for a job next season.

We have some real talent in AAA and this season we will keep developing em'....
but if things keep going this route people will be replaced (at least starting pitching).

I think that Dillon Gee kid will get the spot before Misch. The guy from MetsBlog compared him to Rick Reed which would be a solid edition to the rotation.

I can see Maine losing his spot if he has another poor start since that FB
is clearly not the same right now...Ollie will be Ollie but there will be
no patience from the front office.

Pelf, Santana and Neise will all be solid starts imo.

Offense will get it going eventually, things change from series to series.

I look forward to seeing the young guys continually develop and
maybe even called up more sooner than later.

I agree with both of you. I too, am loving the fact that this team was trash on paper coming into the season and now management is already under pressure. I mean, Citi having its worst attendance just a WEEK into the season??

And yeah amp... I also agree that it's time to trade Reyes. Dave too. His career would certainly flourish in a better hitter's park.

06 seems so damn far away. Team used to be so exciting with Endy and Reyes and Beltran and Pedro and LoDuca and Shea.

The end started when they fired Willie the way they did. Karma is a mutha.

At least we got rid of the cancer that was Carlos Delgado.

I agree on all parts but David.  Can't trade the face of the franchise, a riot would ensue.  I would rather trade Santana then him.

You'll get more back for Wright than you would for Santana, Reyes or Beltran. You'd rather keep the face of a losing franchise or recoup pieces and build towards the future? Should trade both Reyes and Wright. Get what you can for the both of them. Stock up that farm system.
